Rock Roxx

Australian Idol Top 3 for the final this weekend have been chosen.

This one is for the "Rock Chick" Iilysh Retallick, who is from a town in New South Wales, called Culcairn, population 1,500 or so.

Judge Kyle Sandilands has nicknamed it "Cold Can".

Article here tells a bit of her story

https://education.nsw.gov.au/news/l...mmunity-is-out-in-force-to-support-their-idol

and her latest offering was a Bon Jovi hit

At least he thinks he's funny.

With The Top Six, and now down to The Top Three - IMO they are all worthy winners, and so I cannot vote for one without voting for all, which would be pointless, so I will let Australia decide what it will.

Any and all of them could have a thriving career in the industry.

An example is co-host, Ricki-Lee Coulter. She placed seventh in Idol in 2004, and went on to become one of Australia's best-known artists, at least on the domestic scene.

Still on Dami Im, and The X Factor 2013 (while I am breathlessly waiting for the Australian Idol final tomorrow night - the following two clips provide a low for her, and a high for her, in terms of the comments from the Judges/Coaches/Mentors.

In the first one, the eyes are the mirror to the soul, and you can clearly see her disappointment and vulnerability.

I thought both were great, myself.

Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love For You"

and Mylie Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" (Dami was hoping she did not have to perform it nude, hilarious)

Australian Idol 2025 finalist, 19 year old Marshall Hamburger last night took on a John Farnham hit from when John was heading up Little River Band.

This Time I'm Playing To Win.

I don't listen to rock music but in order to not create a yet another music thread I'm going to post here my type of music:

Good idea. This thread has all sorts of music in it that might not be classified as 'rock'. I think of it as being rock-centric but accepting of other genres.

However, it's not my thread. I'm just sharing what I think of the situation - especially because I don't think we need a zillion music threads for the various genres.

My favorite Australian indie group.

Been listening to a lot of upbeat indie lately.

@CaffeineAddict , not sure what your vintage is, but you may know of Kraftwerk?

On one of 16 - 18 February 1979, I saw my 16th concert, at Festival Hall, as was usual for that time, namely Rod Stewart, who had sold out 3 concerts there.

It was his

Blondes 'Ave More Fun Tour

, and the setlist was as follows:

Hot Legs
Born Loose
Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)
The Wild Side of Life
Get Back (The Beatles cover)
You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)
I Don't Want to Talk About It
(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right (Luther Ingram cover)
Blondes (Have More Fun)
Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?
I Just Want to Make Love to You (Willie Dixon cover)
The Killing of Georgie (Parts I & II)
Maggie May
(I Know) I'm Losing You (The Temptations cover)
Sweet Little Rock And Roller (Chuck Berry cover)
Sailing (Sutherland Brothers cover)

Encore

Twistin' the Night Away (Sam Cooke cover)
You Wear It Well

Maggie May is one of my all time faves
.

There is a funny aftermath to this one.

Two years and a couple of weeks later, I married my first wife, Jan, who, as my girlfriend then, had been my date to the Rod Stewart concert.

We were booked in for our wedding night at The Park Royal motel, just up the road from Festival Hall.

We had the Honeymoon Suite booked, but at the last minute, that was unavailable, because of the stay of a Japanese visitor who had a bath, as they do/did then, squatting down outside the bath, ladeling water over himself, which had flooded the carpets and they could not dry it in time.

So we got elevated/upgraded to a higher floor, where the rock stars stayed, at no additional cost.

Jan said to me from the bathroom "I wonder if this is the same toilet seat that Rod Stewart sat on?"

I thought to myself "Crikey! I hope they have cleaned it since then"

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm no fan of vintage music either, I very rarely listen to music overall and when I do it must be something totally modern like mixes on YT relating to psytrance, deep house, chill out and similar.

craftwerk autobahn sounds nostalgic, not bad, thank you for sharing.

... lol, well they were the founders of techno music, so worthy of accolades in their own right, IMO.
