A simple off topic question that could get some pretty good answers. what do you listen to, how did you get into it?

I listen to heavy metal and a few sub genres such as groove, thrash, death. Bands like Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, Pantera, Sylosis, Amon Amarth, Bolt Thrower, Lamb Of God, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and so on.
I grew up not really having a particular taste in music but having to listen to whatever was playing in the car with the Mother and that was always just the radio if I recall correctly. My Dad listened to a lot of Clubland stuff, and my sister was a ballet, tap and Jazz dancer so there was always something playing in the house she would be practising to, and the stepdad likes the Beatles, Katie Melua, and whoever did that Windmills of your Mind song.

With how wide that variety is I have no idea what ever made me get into the more extreme stuff I listen to now but I remember I'd always go back to the more heavier songs in video games and then getting into high school I ended up becoming friends with those that liked heavier music. Somebody sent me a few Avenged Sevenfold songs in I.T. class and it just went from there, that was about 17/18 years ago and since then music has just made sense to me. As a kid it was something that was just playing in the background, and now its this whole thing that is a huge part of my life.

Good times, bad times, the absolute lowest moments of my life and everything in between, music is a huge part of it all.

psytrance, chillout, house, in that order of preference.

I listen to these on rumble and sometimes youtube, not always but when I'm in mood for music.

I like most genres, some more than others but not classic. It kind of depends the mood I am in as well
Check out the Rock Roxx thread it will give you an idea what some folks here listen to.

I am eclectic,

Rock/metal. Just about anything BUT The Beatles.

I grew up in an area of The States where the only 2 FM radio stations we could pick up were country. I had my fill of that early in life. Started in to rock at around 10 years old when WEBN in Cincinnati upped their power. Haven't looked back since. Everything from C.C.R. to Oni. Oni being one of my current favs.

psytrance, goa, hard house, classic rock, vaporwave/barber beats, funk, eclectic jazz, dark/thrash metal (sepultura, crisis, etc), reggae, classical, instrumental, industrial... mostly everything except for kpop/boybands/christian rock/country music.

anything but rap.

Seriously, opera, classical, jazz, bluegrass, country,-western, oldies, rock-n-roll, easy-listening, soul, blues, folk, even disco.

Duke Ellington, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Radiohead, The Strokes, "Metropolis" OST, "Cowboy Bebop" OST, Biggie, M&M, Nas

How did I get into them? ...
-"you like jazz?"...yes I do. It's the most fun to PLAY.
-Born in Texas, Skynyrd's always around
-Radiohead I've gotten more into lately. I think of "Just" whenever I look at the stock exchange, or our current geopolitics
-The Strokes just put out good, catchy pop-alt-rock
-"The Zone"
-Watched it
-I do love being called big papa
-locker room, always on
-Memory lane

If folks want to share the music they listen to, there are several threads already dedicated to doing so.

I didnt know that, I'l read through the off topic section before I go off topic next time!

They're in this sub-forum:

The're Rock Roxx that is stickied, I'm pretty sure. There are a couple of others that you can look for but someone will post to 'em eventually and bring them to the top. Those thread authors can also comment here to show you their various threads.

I'm a self-acknowledged electronic music snob. I listen almost exclusively to electronic music.
Here's one of my favorite bands, "Hybrid". This is their recent high impact tune: ("Siren of the Storm")

I really love the soundtrack flavour. This kind of music makes me feel alive.
