It's that time of year when I play this Carole King song.

Mmm... The mini-dress....

I was 13 when that video and song came out. I was impressionable.

I was 18 I remember the mini dress aka mini skirts.

I remember all of the yelling my parents and sisters had over them.

That was the year I was shipped off to boarding school. I tested well and was a scholarship kid. I didn't go because of that; I went because my behavior had been less than acceptable. My dad, a career Marine, wanted to ship me to a military academy. My mom stepped in and I ended up there instead.

Ah,,, Memories...

Today, I go speak at the school once a year and provide a few scholarships. I do similar for the university I attended, except I just visit and give them money. They ask alumni for money constantly. They're almost as bad as I hear debt collectors are, except they don't threaten you with anything. They always need something and 'hope you can help'.

This is the song I now have in my head:

February 19 1981 saw me at Festival Hall again, the occasion being The Police, featuring Sting. Loved it, here's a couple from the setlist.

Was reading a tribute to fashion designer Georgio Armani, who died this week aged 91. The article mentioned his work with black velvet, and such is the nature of my ADD/ADHD, that when I read or hear a phrase, it often triggers a song in my mind.

Here's Alannah Myles

I always found the naming of 'Procul Harum' amusing. The backstory is interesting. Rather than type it out myself, I'll quote Wikipedia to save some time.

The group named themselves after a male blue Burmese cat, which had been bred by Eleonore Vogt-Chapman and belonged to Liz Coombes, a friend.[14][15] Stevens suggested the group name themselves after the cat, which the group immediately accepted.[16] However, the cat's pedigree name was in fact Procul Harun, the Procul being the breeder's prefix,[17] but the name was taken down over the telephone, leading to a misspelling.[18] Although people informed the band that the name is Latin for "beyond these things",[11] this is incorrect as the correct term would be procul hīs.[19]

So, it's largely just gibberish that people have associated with other things. It all started with a misspelling.

I'd say it's too bad that they didn't have spellcheck, but those words would likely have not been in their dictionary.
