Hi
I have an issue with one of my disks.
I recently installed Mint on my desktop and the internal drive in question is an 8TB
I have the ntfs-3g installed and it is able to see my other drives, I have like 4 other drives and it sees them all and I can go through them, I just cant access 1 of them
I get an error that states Unable to "Mount Location - Cant Mount File"
Can someone point me in the right direction here?
When I do a mount command it shows loads of stuff I dont really get...
The drive I am having an issue with is called Media
Also I should mention that this is a dual boot system and the Windows system has no issue reading all the files etc on the drive.

Hello @sorrownight
Welcome to the Linux.org forum, enjoy!
Sorry can't be of much help to you but there are others here that I'm sure can.
If I had to guess and it's only a guess I would say maybe you don't have read write permission on that drive. Hopefully you'll find the answer soon.

Also I should mention that this is a dual boot system and the Windows system has no issue reading all the files etc on the drive.
I only learned of this myself recently because there was a similar thread some time back*, but TL;DR:
  • Boot back into Windows
  • Disable Fast Boot / Fast Startup
  • Power off Windows completely
  • Power on and boot into Linux
... *See I quit MS during 7 so this is something I was quite surprise by, but Windows these days "locks" NTFS volumes when powered down and Fast Boot / Fast Startup, I'm guessing to do a hibernate-ish thing because it takes so long to start otherwise.
Anyway, that's be my educated guess just reading "Dualboot", "NTFS", and "Can't Mount". I admit I didn't read the output. I may be wrong but try it.

Hey, thanks for replying.
The fast boot is already disabled in Windows.
Its also not the boot drive that is the issue its just an internal storage drive.

That kernel are you runniing?
Code:
uname -a
It is recommended that 5.15 and newer doesn't run ntfs-3g
Just use ntfs3

Does your windows use disk encryption?

running uname -a gives me this:
~$ uname -a

No disk encryption on windows system
