Rock Roxx

I was going to wish someone a good night's sleep, turned out they were up. Very late...or early, too.

This one is for them

I do love me some Rod Stewart. He's a fun one to cover and I can sound like him pretty easily. It can be a bit 'boring', as none of his music is really all that complicated to cover. But, his well-known songs are still fun to cover and an audience in that age range will be familiar with the music - which is as important (when you're a cover band) as skillful playing.

As a billiard-game aficionado, I want to know how good he was at playing pool. I've yet to have the chance to ask him.

Make a sticky!

...

There IS a sticky.

We have enough music threads. If you want to share music, find the most appropriate existing thread and use that. Thanks. :)

There IS a sticky.

No, there isn't. I'm having trouble sharing the specific post (using my phone)

What Music Do You Like? #26

@wizardfromoz answered you, saying it's not a sticky thread.

(Yawn...waking up)

Morning all.

Perhaps with the following I can resolve this difference of perception?

Dates are east coast Australian.
  1. March 26 a Member started https://www.linux.org/threads/whats-music-do-you-all-like.56078/
  2. March 27 there, David G said "If folks want to share the music they listen to, there are several threads already dedicated to doing so." and
  3. "The're Rock Roxx that is stickied, I'm pretty sure. There are a couple of others that you can look for but someone will post to 'em eventually and bring them to the top" and
  4. "Those thread authors can also comment here to show you their various threads.", which Condobloke did. Arochester could not post about his Classical and Jazz threads because he passed away.
  5. April 17, I created and stickied https://linux.org/threads/music-lovers-please-note-before-you-post-a-new-thread.56426/ which contains links to a number of music threads
  6. May 23, yesterday for me, I responded to David G's comment from March 27 saying Rock Roxx is not stickied, which it is not (but is referenced in a stickie)
On

Better yet, make a sub forum dedicated to music genres.

Took us a long time to get Off Topic created, that's up to the Boss...I don't fancy your chances.

Now, back to the music...and more coffee

What a wonderful blast from the past.

Thanks for sharing. :)

I have picked up a mistake on my part, and my 17th concert was actually my 14th concert.

I had thought I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1980, but it was 15 November 1977, at Festival Hall.

My fave from their setlist was probably "The Chain"

Another fave of mine not in that concert (hadn't been written then), was one which won me more bets at pubs and Trivia Nights than any other, and that is "Little Lies".

Those not aware think that the vocalist is Stevie Nicks. It's not, It's Christine McVie. Stevie only performs backup vocals on the number, and you can hear her distinctive voice when she sings simply "tell me lies".

On Saturday, I attended the Stanthorpe Rodeo, because my granddaughter was in the Barrel Racing (she won).

Between the commentary, music was playing, which I recognised as Shania Twain

November 1980 The Unmasked Tour by Kiss, was only seen in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with one show at The Palladium in New York being the only US venue.

We saw it in Brisbane at Lang Park football stadium (where I saw Bowie).

Lead singer Paul Stanley later said

Playing Australia in 1980 was amazing. We were big beyond any comprehension. When we were first told that we were huge in Australia I really didn't have any idea what that meant until we went there. When people were saying you're as big as The Beatles were that's kind of hard to comprehend until you get off a plane and there's thousands of people at an airport and there's thousands of people camping outside your hotel and we couldn't leave the hotels. "Shandi" had already been a hit there. We were the front headline of the papers for virtually three or four weeks. It reached the point where I was asking that we not have any more parties because literally every night the promoter threw a party for us

Here's Shandi

Or, a little rockier

The visual special effects in this concert remain etched in my memory, even 45 years after the event.

Billie Eilish - "Birds of a Feather"

Even chuck said this was the best version of his work he had heard..

Chuck who, Brian?

SOOO kidding.

I'm still a fan of the Beatles' cover, lol.
