@KGIII , @Brickwizard , @MikeWalsh - I've been using Imgur for over 11 years, it is somewhat hard to break the habit, my regrets.

I will start a discussion with Staff to see what action we can take, if any, to assist.

I will also be looking to include a couple of rank and file British Members, plus, of course the OP of this venerable thread, @JasKinasis , who, too, is British.

Meantime, I would ask for us to be On Topic with the thread's drive, and we will make do for now.

TIA
and

For what it's worth, my country has no issues with that provider.

At the end of the day, I don't really have a dog in the fight. Plus, Shutter and Flameshot like to default to that image host, At least they did when I last looked.

Quite so.

Nevertheless, I have made a modification, for now, to my tip here

https://www.linux.org/threads/posting-screenshots-at-this-site-read-this-for-easy-way.21722/

On one hand, it kind of sucks. On the other hand, it's kind of natural. I've largely chosen the 'attachment' route. That is, I attach an image using the forum's tools.

But, that means it's more expensive to host the site. Those tiny image files add up. Singularly, they're not large files. But, they're quite a large number of bits. Drop by drop it adds up.

At the same time, it's the most 'universally acceptable' ways to share images.

@wizardfromoz / @KGIII :-

I guess it goes without saying that those of us who CAN still use an image-hosting site (where there are NO stupid geo-political restrictions) - should continue to do so where practical.

Every little helps to keep bandwidth down, of course.....and if we can all do our bit to help keep those hosting costs a bit lower, it all adds up.....as David pointed out above.

Naturally, that works both ways.....

I would have been happy to help contribute towards site costs, but I'm pretty heavily invested in at least 2 other online communities in that way, and as you might expect, there's a limit to how far my finances will stretch.

For me, at least, the Puppy community has to come first & foremost.

(shrug...)

Nobody would dream of "blaming" you, Chris. It's not your doing, any more than it is any of the rest of us. Blame our political masters.....who purport to know what's best for us!

We poor sods just have to cope with the fallout.

Hm. Turns out this is nowt to do with the Online Safety Act. Instead, it's all about something called the Children's Code....a dedicated version of the GDPR specifically aimed at under-18s.

MediaLab, the American owners of Imgur, rather than affirming they would treat personal data from under-18s differently to everyone else - as they were apparently asked to - chose instead simply to withdraw from the UK completely......essentially giving the UK's regulators two fingers & saying "F**k you".

Just thought clarification would help. Seems many tech companies often play hardball with regulators, with the specific intention of stirring up public backlash against them...

I have always used postimage.org for off site hosting

Did you know you can make floating taskbar to appear like before (to not be floating, sticking to the edges of the screen).
Yep knew that choose to let it float for now. Thanks.

This pic was under "Off Topic" at Australian bushfire and it seemed too neat of a pic to not try it out as a wallpaper. Probably not so "neat" to anyone witnessing it up close, but a stunning reminder of the power of nature.
