Installing ArchLinux 2025 to your computer

Probably has to do with that you are doing it in a vm with Qemu, I've had other Linux distributions have issues when booting in uefi mode when doing it in Qemu. I've used arch-install on a physical system and then it just install Arch Linux in uefi mode if you are booted into iso with uefi boot.

Possibly. :)
I have a NUC I will test that on this morning.

OK... so it turns out, I may have to take back some of the mean things I said. :-)
But not all of them. Six Arch install this morning. Three out 6 were successfiul.
50% doesn't seem so good. Qemu/KVM ,nope. VMware, nope. Intel NUC yes. Lenovo Laptop yes.
HP Proliant G8, nope. Dell laptop yes.

So it appears that Arch can run in EFI after all. But it isn't completely out of the woods yet. I can install at 7 other
distros in EFI mode on systems above. So why not Arch?

for most of the laptops I tried it kept throwing me in a loop because the edits are not where you expect them to be. for example. under a hp laptop you would expect the secure boot to be under security. but that was not the case for me. instead I had to go under "Boot" and thats where the secure boot options for efi where for me to edit. Hope that helps. Speaking in terms of bios settings of course.

I got Arch Linux to boot in UEFI mode with Qemu. The only thing I had to change was to use a different chiptset for the vm "i144FX" instead of "Q35" and than as firmware "UEFI". When I selected "Q35" with "UEFI" it wouldn't boot in UEFI mode. Try that and see if it works for you as well?

Tah da... it works! I was also able to run it on one of my other Laptops by disabled CSM compatibility mode.
I guess I need to give Arch a clean bill of health.
