I posted some time ago..how to reset a forgotten password with the Live Session but there's an easy way to do this from the Grub menu.

How To Reset A Forgotten Password From The Grub Menu.

Boot to Grub...tapping either the Shift Key or the Esc Key
For my Tower’s Motherboard it’s the Shift Key.

Go to Advanced Options..hit Enter...then Recovery Mode..hit Enter.
Go to Root..hit Enter and Enter again...type...passwd and your user name...hit Enter.
Type new password...hit Enter...Retype new password...hit Enter.
You’ll see...password updated successfully...type reboot and hit Enter.

When the Login Screen appears...type your new password.

Hope this helps someone.

The above is for beginners new to Linux as most Linux users should know how to do this.

I was thinking maybe a beginner might want to change their known password...which is very easy.

Open the Terminal and type...passwd and hit Enter.
Enter your current password...hit Enter.
Type new password...hit Enter
Retype new password and hit Enter.
You'll see...password updated successfully.
