Okay, this is confusing. I clicked on the github link, and there is a big page with a lot of similar files. Which one do I click on? They all (scrolling down) say "diff". So that is what is confusing me.I use an app named LocalSend to perform the same action --> https://github.com/localsend/localsend - it works really well
Well not having to install something was what I initially thought......several weeks ago. I was getting indication from people here that I indeed had to have software for this OS with Android. So, I plugged it and looked at though the settings on phone and found the "file transfer" setting. At first I was trying to open phone as it did register in "drives" folder. I kept clicking on it and nothing. Don't know WTH I did, but a folder popped up, clicked on it, and finally got access to pics and video on phone. I never saw the GUI thing. So anyway, I guess I got lucky and achieved what has been burning my brain for a long time. Thanks for your feedback. I'll keep you posted on my next headache. You shouldn't need to install anything. All reasonable desktop environments have everything needed. Just connect the phone, make sure it's in file transfer mode (phone settings) and the computer should recognize and mount it as a drive. Use the GUI file manager to do the transfer, just like any other file from any other drive.
