Modded Minecraft on Linux?

I currently still have windows 10, but want to move to Linux. I haven't decided on a distro yet, as I play a lot of modded Minecraft, and my question is, is this possible on Linux, and if so, how?

it's possible, just install lutris and then install minecraft into lutris.
Mods are simply placed into game directory where mods go.

If you use steam, you can enable steam in lutris and use it to install minecraft instead of manual install.

I am not a gamer, I can tell you there is a native version of Minecraft for Linux, most other games can be played using one of several applications, the only games that don't work are those with anti-cheat

That might be for the bedrock edition; Java edition works natively.

@Skilk : I use Prism Launcher for playing Minecraft Java. If this is your case, try to avoid the official launcher as it usually keeps asking you to sign in to Microsoft account every day.

Once you get a vanilla edition up and running, just search for mods for the Java edition and where to put them. It's been a while since I last did, (like 10+ years), but it seems that in Prism it's all just about using the "Folders" menu:

Prism Launcher works well, and if you want something with more features, both Modrinth and CurseForge have linux versions
