FYI
This is a rant, an effort to calm down. At the moment I'm not looking to try to figure all of this out.
***As I write this possible reasons for these issues are coming to mind.
I have no idea what the problem is now. I getting incredibly frustrated. I need to stop right now because if I don't I will probably make things worse and/or never figure out what the problem is.
Recap.
THEN...
I placed an order for groceries. I've had many problems placing orders online with this business. I have 'Customer Service' saved as a contact in my phone. Today was yet one more issue.
More aggravation.
***I paused to contact the person who is doing my shopping to find out if I can add a USB drive to my order. He said that should be no problem.
And then there's my new Linux cyber security friend...
I was talking him today, I told him I DO NOT want him to fix my problem, I just needed to get out my frustration. Well he kept going on about Ubuntu, all the reasons I should switch... AGAIN. And again, I explained to him that I'm not ready to switch to another new OS. I haven't really had much chance to figure things out in LM. I JUST got my tower back. I don't know what I would be getting into with Ubuntu. I have too many other things to do right now to take a chance that I might have problems. I just don't want to switch right now, but I did plan on putting on a VM...
And then there's this. He seems to be hinting that he wants something more than platonic friendship.
WHAT!?!
Um... I just finished 4 months of intense chemotherapy, almost died 3 times. Right before that I ran from my home state after a contentious divorce. My hair is just starting to grow back! I'm trying to get my life back on track. Dating is the very last thing I have time for!!!
Thanks for listening.
And oh... The shopper is bringing a new USB drive.

Recap.
- Trying to put Zoom in a virtual machine
- Trying to install Virtual Box
- Haven't been able to finish installation, no extension pack, access to USB...
- Uninstalling and starting over seems like a good idea
- Have not been able to successfully install or uninstall
- Reinstalling anyway makes no difference.
- After reading in another thread last night I found out that maybe pieces were left behind because of how I tried to uninstall VB
- I Rt clicked on the app in the menu, selected uninstall.
- No success
- Found directions on the internet to use the terminal.
- No success.
- I couldn't remember if this would work and didn't think it would but tried to restore to an earlier time using TimeShift.
- Didn't work
- I Rt clicked on the app in the menu, selected uninstall.
- Decided to take extreme measures by re-installing LM 22.1
- Wouldn't you know, I have more problems there!
- I couldn't boot from the thumb drive.
- After messing around in Bios it finally happened.
- I couldn't boot into a live desktop
- Tried an OEM installation
- got stuck there too
- No live desktop files could be found
- Had the option to download from the internet.
- I'm not comfortable doing that, not experienced enough
- got stuck there too
- Decided to download LM 22.1 installation files to make a new bootable thumb drive.
- After waiting 1 1/2 hours...
- The USB drive can't be found to make a bootable drive
- Not by right clicking on iso files
- Not in the file system
- The USB drive can't be found to make a bootable drive
- I can see the thumb drive in disks... I'm not sure where to go from there.
- I put the thumb drive in my laptop
- I don't see it there either, but I do see it in 'Disks'
- The most logical conclusion is that the USB drive itself is damaged
- This is entirely possible due to circumstances I won't go into here.
- This the second USB drive I've had trouble with in the last 2 weeks.
- Wouldn't you know, I have more problems there!
