I have a 2011 Dell XPS that I have been trying to load Linux Mint onto (it was running Windows 10). I use a USB thumb drive and flash a copy of Mint .ISO from this Linux site and can operate Mint on the PC from the USB. However after loading the software onto the PC, rebooting and removing the USB, my PC now just get "Operation System not found" on boot up. How to I fix this?

G'day BSW, Welcome to Linux.org

In bios, have you disabled Secure Boot ....and Fast Boot ?

What program did you use to make the Mint .iso bootable on the usb? Where you able to check the integrity of the .iso file to ensure that it wasn't corrupt?

Thanks for feed back.

in my BIOS there are no options for Secure Boot or Fast Boot.

On the .ISO file, this was directly down loaded from the Linux.org download site onto a new USB thumb drive and using BalenaEther to create the flash drive.

understood.

Are you attempting to boot via UEFI ?

BalenaEtcher has been problematic for a while.
I recommend Ventoy.

Thanks guys,

I will try Ventoy.

on the UEFI, I will investigate this to understand how my system works and advise.

cheers

There is a new version of Ventoy available.
