Solved A Habit from Back-in-the-Day

@Freepoorman :-

Calling me the guy who loves the sound of his own voice when you post novels each time for every one of your replies shows lack of self-awareness at best, and lack of decorum at worst.. either way I don't think you're very smart
Ah. I believe there's some "crossed wires" here.

The reference was definitely not aimed at you. Don't think that.

The reference was about the guy in the video, on the left of the screen, waffling away with his headphones on. Bryan Lunduke DOES love the sound of his own voice! He's been droning on & on about various subjects for years.....and sending many people to sleep in the process.

I can point you to any number of people who have the same low opinion of him. It's nothing to do with the subject matter - although he doesn't always present stuff in its best light.....it's his style of presentation.

Oh, you can't castigate Freepoorman for telling the truth, Chris..! I DO have a tendency to waffle, it's true, and I'll be the first to admit it. I've always been something of a storyteller, and like to try and make what I write about sufficiently interesting that people want to read more. I'm also something of a stickler when it comes to correct use of my native language - 'Queen's English' - and like to write in "conversational style". Perhaps I've been in error all these years, so.....constructive criticism IS welcome.

(I also understand why the reply was posted here, since the original thread has been locked for being too 'political'...)

As for me? Yeah; guilty as charged. I do have a tendency to waffle, it's true.....but I've always been something of a storyteller, and like to try and make what I write about sufficiently interesting that people want to read more. I apologize for getting defensive and being wrong. I haven't had much sleep

Hey, no worries. We've ALL been there at times - I know I have, as I've got older; disturbed sleep patterns are all too common as you age - and lack of it WILL make you short-tempered.

Apology graciously accepted.....even though there was no need. :)

Thank you for understanding. I still feel like a jackass though

Calling me the guy who loves the sound of his own voice

I'm pretty sure I've never done that. At least I don't remember doing so. You may have me mistaken with someone else.

Total isolation, the ultimate security
I checked out the two links you posted. Started the first link to the EasyOS Table of Contents. I had to click away... definately the kind of Rabbit Hole I jump into.

The second link to "Ultra Secure Web Browsing" - made it as far as down to "Total isolation, the ultimate security" - that will be a future Go-To.

I had been reading and researching Linux for seriously the past 18 or so months wanting to become a Microsoft Refugee. I had never touched Linux till less than a month ago when I registered here.

After I registered I started by making my first bootable thumb drive in 50 years of computing. Booted to LinuxMint 22.xx.x. and made my backups. Yup I was a "hard-sell" but folks here "gently brained-washed me".

I worked that stick for a week Tuning and a Playing and did Bottles and a bunch of stuff. I forget what I installed but the message at the end said it required a reboot. You know...

Thank goodness you guys put up with me. I think I heard @Brickwizard laughing all the way over here as he "introduced the Newbie" me to Bootable/Persistent "Pen-Drive". ;) (hey @Brickwizard I even called the stick by its' "proper name" :D

All that to say I am very interest in the content you shared. I also realize I'm not ready...yet.
I struggle to translate "Microsoft speak" to Linux just so I can ask questions somewhat coherently. That has been a challenge for me on any subject... figuring out the question.

I'm going to sign off from this thread and open another theead in the General catagory. It may belong in a different category... but to me it's all General, at least for now.

Thank you! @Brickwizard @KGIII @Condobloke @MikeWalsh

The greatest challenge of them all....

In other words, turn off one side of your brain and communicate with the other side.....

Yeah...its a challenge.

All summed up as....'Mindset'

Enjoy your Linux.

No rush.
Take your time.
Take small steps.
Learn a little bit at a time.
No rush you will get there.
