Project Announcement: gNewSense Evolution Multi Desktop Rebirth on Debian Forky Base

Hello Linux Community,

I am the lead developer of gNewSense Evolution, a custom respin deployment framework tracking the upcoming Debian 14 Forky package baseline profiles. The entire distribution catalog relies natively on the eggs produce clone compilation engine to package our live ISO file sets.

Our repository build templates, sandboxed user configurations, performance grub files supporting Linux Zen, diagnostics, and Advanced Fallback Submenus, and custom golden crown terminal prompts are completely finalized on GitHub. We have also successfully secured the primary gnewsense and gnewsense archived project namespaces natively on SourceForge to act as high speed backup mirrors.

Active Production Roster for the Target Release:
  • 5 Flagship Editions: GNOME Workstation, Personal Desktop Plasma, KDE Theme Edition preloaded with WhiteSur and Sonoma layouts, a Systemd-free Devuan flavor, and FreeOnly running the strict linux-libre kernel.
  • 4 Specialized Spins: gNewSense Spin with 22 desktop environments, Polina Spin with an LXQt backend and KWin compositor shell, 21-Manager Tiling WM Spin, and 34-Manager Stacking WM Spin.
  • 7 Multi-Desktop Base Spins: Comprehensive GUI-only builds for Kali, Parrot, PureOS, Pop OS, Kubuntu, MXLinux, Q4OS, and antiX.

Seeking Core Infrastructure Maintainers:
While our repository configuration templates are completely finished, we are actively looking for experienced systems administrators and server operators to join the core team to manage our external network properties. Specifically, we need assistance with handling the registration and DNS zone records for our target deployment domains (gnewsenserw dot org and arm dot gnewsenserw dot com) and mapping them via CNAME to our SourceForge mirrors.

Code and Blueprint Tracks Directory:
To completely comply with forum anti-spam rules, there are no active links in this post. You can find our full source tree and backup mirrors by searching the project handles:

  • GitHub Codebase: Go to GitHub and search for the user handle gnewsenselinux to view our master repository tree.
  • Primary Release Mirror: Go to SourceForge and search for the project named gnewsense.
  • Network Matrix Checklist: Review the documents domains md and MAINTAINERS md inside our root GitHub folder.

If any systems administrators or developers here want to help maintain a stable, highly optimized multi-desktop distribution platform, please check our guidelines or open an issue on our GitHub tracker labeled help-wanted!

Note that it's good forum etiquette to be part of the community first before sharing your own projects. Which you will hopefully still do, also not let this be your only topic about your project here and don't start new topics about your project but post updates here about your project if you have an update about your project. Thanks!

Hello Linux Community,
Sigh. Copypasta.

Edit: As a user there (linuxquestions.org) named, "boughtonp" said of this:

"This claims to be a rebirth, but there's no mention of GNU at all, and being hosted and mirrored on proprietary software is a huge red flag for anyone who actually cares about free/libre software and might have been hoping for a true restart of the project.

Checking the repository, I was entirely unsurprised to find LLM-generated slop, with the usual waffling nonsense, contradictions, and broken links one expects from LLMs."

For those that still need convincing, the initial commit from January is a single README.md containing:

Thanks! @namirtaajwar with the Copypasta it seems you are here only for the self promotion of your project. I'll give you a week to show differently and that you are also here for the community discussions, we will see what happens.
