Thank for your consideration. I've had moments of feeling overwhelmed with the thought of it, but recognize that is an anxiety projected by my brain, it's not 'me'. When the unit and accessories arrive, I plan to take it very slow and pause when it starts feeling too much. There's quite a list of things to do before even first using the HTP with Linux.

Language to English
Setup Windows without online account
Factory reset or debloat Windows
Setup firewall
Setup Linux on pen drive

anything else?

Then start learning Linux!

Okay, I will remove the link from my signature.

Thanks. We have some rules and they seem to work well enough. It's nothing personal or anything like that.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested this yet:

No problem, I understand. The micro-dosing information comes from a time of my experimentation to relieve symptoms of Aspergers. They are older webpages and no longer relevant to me. I could remove the links but some might still benefit from them, and microdosing is becoming more accepted professionally. I don't know what else on the website might not be appropriate for young people. But anyway I'm okay with not linking to it from the forum.

Is there someplace best to post this on the forums to be 'persistent' and re-editable?

(This had to be typed offline and pasted, because my iPad popup keyboard doesn't always popup. Looking forward to the HTP.)

This is a start, with a vision to put the links in A-Z order and make available on the forum. Does anyone else think that could be useful? Has it already been done? Can you give links for adding to the list?

USB
USB flash drive also known as pendrive, thumb drive, keychain drive, memory stick, dater stick, flash stick among others. A persistence pen drive is one where the ISO is written to the drive as a bootable drive with the ability to update, store, recall and amend files without losing them [this we call non volatile storage]

I would recommend that you re-edit your original post #1 here and keep it current.... rather than re-posting what may become a long list over and over again. You can right-click on #1 and copy the link so you can refer others back to it quickly. You might even add it to your signature, like: See my Linux Links List here.

This thread is persistent, so topics do not expire as on some other forums. I would also suggest that you do not try editing your posts with different colors. The forum has a "light mode" and a "dark mode" that each user can select, and manually changing colors often will make it hard to read for some users.

Did I use different colors? If so, it was unawares.
'...keep it current.... rather than re-posting what may become a long list over and over again.'
That's been my intention all along, it's just been confusing whilst I get used to things.

I added your links to the list and like your suggestions. Definitely will add the list post to my signature! Thank you.

No, but since you are new here, I thought I would caution you about it. If you want to highlight something with color, at least give it a look in both light- and dark-modes so you know it looks okay for all users. You can change from light to dark in the lower left corner, where it says, "Default style" or "Dark default"... depending on what you currently have selected.

This iPad on the forum is a bad combination. It doesn't always allow me to edit, instead appears to duplicate posts. The keyboard and ads jump around on the screen, it's very tiring. But I'm not complaining and grateful a new setup is on the way.

Thank you! Right now I'm lucky to succeed in posting at all. Any getting fancy will come later....

Here's another tip: Rather than quoting people with ' x ' or " x ".... click-and-drag your mouse across the text you want to quote to highlight it, and you will see a Reply button appear. Clicking that button will show the quoted text as I just did above. It's nice because it clearly shows who you are quoting.

There are a number of features on the site, and it takes awhile to learn things like that. But you're doing fine and don't take it that I'm griping about anything, just trying to show you some tips. :)

The iPad doesn't work with a mouse or clicks. It's a touchscreen and taps. After my beautiful new 17" HP laptop (loaded with accessories and setup just the way I liked), was stolen on our move from Germany to the Canaries, in an operation of organized crime, I went reluctantly to iPad. We kept traveling a lot, so it was a good choice. Now we're more stationary and I'm so ready for a stable unit!

No worries, I take your suggestions as helpful. If it sounds like I'm grumbling it's just other things....
