Linux on Macbook 12" early 2016

I had to test it, so I fired it up again with MacOs....and the sound is indeed a lot better. Over Bluetooth I don´t hear any difference. Peculiar. I don´t mind about the sound quality....so no problem for me.

ubuntu 25.04 default kernel does not support keyboard/touchbar, so unusable. Using kernel from ubuntu 24.10 the machine works well. There is an official kernel repo for macbook 12 patches so i can report this issue somewhere? It would be great if this machine can run on kernel shipped with 25.04

ubuntu 25.04 default kernel does not support keyboard/touchbar,
see if this can help

thanks for the github link. unfortunately it is for mbp not for the 12" macbook. i was wrong with touchbar, so it is actually the touchpad sorry. i'm searching for:
- touchpad, keyboard, camera, mic drivers

Hibernate does not worked (halted, booted and tried to resume from the swap partition then just hangs, i not debugged it deeper yet)

I'm also i very thankful to people who working to make this machine supported with linux, and in current state it is very useable. If camera (for video meetings), mic and hibernate (too slow to start all apps what i'm using on every boot, i hoped hibernate can be the solution for me) works it have all features needed for my work. (now i use an m1 air for daily work with macos, because asahi also lack some features too). macbook 12 now more useable with linux than macos, because last supported macos is too old from some apps and also much slower than linux, newer openpatched macos versions more slower and unstable..)

Did you get the hibernate issue to work? I've been testing different distros without any success. Every time I close and open the lid the keyboard/mouse stops working and my only option is to restart the computer (the off button is the only working). Sometimes the mouse/keyboard don't work at startup either.

I'm on the first Macbook 12 from 2015.

Finally after trying so many things I got it working (sometimes wifi and bluetooth stop working, but not often)

Updating grub with following parameters fixes the standby problems:
nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pci_aspm=off iommu.strict=1 pcie_port_pm=off cpufreq.default_governor=performance

@onzem

You Might have Better luck Starting a new thread, as this one has been inactive for a while.
As for BT- I remember something about additional drivers option within ubuntu. I think it's under Software&&updates.

It might have a driver for your Mac'- (I know when I installed Lubuntu on my MBP from 2011, I needed a driver for my netwrk card to work- Could be the same.

Welcome to the forums, BTW!

Best regards,

Warp9.
