I'm a old guy trying to learn a new profession. It's a far way dream but maybe one day I will be able to work in IT.
I started to study linux a couple months back, and I love it. The only thing I have difficult with is to find a good community to help me grow.
I'm a Fedora user and I like it very much. Trying to learn RHEL related skills to maybe in the future try to pass the RHCSA exam.
Anyway, nice to meet you all and I hope to make friends and learn together with this amazing community.

Welcome, if your profile is correct, then sorry you're not old enough to be considered an old guy, you're a young'en to most of us,
we are not an official arm of Linux we are just lucky one of our previous owners bagged the web address, We are a rather large forums [member wise] with an active membership of differing skills and specialities and can help with most problems, hell in one of their official blogs windows recommended us as a safe place to get information and help with Linux, but you must remember we are spread across the 4 corners of the world and allow for time differences.

^^^ +1.

Heh. Yeah, many of us here are the "wrong" side of 60. Older still, in Brian's case (70s). We have one guy here who's not far off 90, I believe......but interest (and skill) knows no age limits!

I know everyone - young and old alike - hates struggling with Windows. It's frustrating, AND annoying (at the best of times). Yet because Linux puts no hard & fast barriers in your way - and those barriers usually fall faster the more you learn and become familiar with things - strangely enough, those (ex-) Windows users don't seem to mind messing around with Linux in the same way.

And that's probably because, unlike Windows, you can usually solve things, sooner or later, either through your own efforts OR with the help of a brilliant bunch of folks like we have here. Plus, of course, it's free to download AND to use......along with the freedom to modify stuff to suit yourself, so long as the GPL is adhered to.

You try doing THAT in Windoze.....and see how far you get.

For those of us who have reached the end of the "daily grind", this stuff helps keep the interest alive.....and the mental skills sharp. Your grey matter will thank you for it in the end!

We'll always help in any way we can. Just remember to be patient.....and as m'colleague @Brickwizard says, DO allow for the time zones.

Welcome to Linux.org.

Mike. ;)

Don’t forget, even the smallest wins count as progress. Every new command you learn or configuration you figure out is a step closer to that RHCSA goal, and over time all those little bits add up to solid skills you can really rely on.

That's exactly what I've been looking for: experienced people!
I've been struggling to find a good place to learn from others...Discord communities are often a mess. Things move too quickly there.
I actually think the timezone limitation is a good thing. It forces a healthy pace.
While I wait, I'll be reading some documentation.
Thanks, Mike, for the welcome message!

Sometimes, when you're alone, it's difficult to see things clearly. I truly appreciate your message.
Thank you very much, Bryan.

Welcome aboard.

I dare say that we're the most welcoming Linux forum on the 'net.
