Relative newb struggling with live Mint and Ubuntu. Verified downloads of Mint 22.3 and Ubuntu 26.04 failed with two different known good USB drives (can't open \efi\boot - not found). I tried a DVD using "xfburn" with the same results. I was starting to think there was some hardware issue. I read through some threads here and decided to try "Ventoy" where you put it on a USB and then add whatever distros you want to boot. It apparently is MBR only (for my old 2014 system?) even though I have UEFI and Legacy options on the boot menu (I'm sure I don't understand any of this but thought I'd mention anyway). If I choose the Ventoy USB in the "legacy" boot device list it boots up both Mint and Ubuntu !!! Finally! Mentioning this for any fellow newbies that might come along with a similar issue. I already have a very successful Mint installation but I am researching back-up schemes and since I have Time Shift backups on an external drive I thought it would be useful to have a bootable Mint copy around. Just dim ramblings from a very happy new Mint user.
