Hello,

I heard of Ventoy, this software tool seems to be such a good option because I can create a multiboot USB. So I decided to create my own multiboot USB; I followed the installation process.

1. I searched for Ventoy, clicked on the first link, selected Ventoy for linux.
2. It brought me to Sourceforge where I clicked again on the Ventoy linux.tar.gz.
3. The .tar.gz was downloaded in mi laptop.
4. I decompressed the .tar.gz
5. Into the ventoy directory I selected the file VentoyGUI.X86_64 which asked me for the admin password.
6. I selected GPT as type of partition, and selected the USB where I want to store te ISO files.
7. Finally I put my ISO files in the ventoy USB.

After doing all this process which I think is ok, a questions came to mind. Before downloading Ventoy I formatted my USB and I used GPT as type of partition; but any problem had happened If I had chosen here MBR and then during the Ventoy installation I had chosen GPT??

Then I tryed my new USB in my laptop, I entered in the UEFI and I set it as the first option in the boot preference menu. Now what is supposed to appear in the screen is the Ventoy menu, but instead of that, what appeared was the GRUB of the image I attached.

Did I commit any mistake during the installation? It is what is supposead to appear? in that case how do I continue?

And if you know could you tell me waht is GRUB, how does it work, what is the "advanced options for Ubuntu" that appears to me when I swich on my laptop?,
I’m a bit hesitant to mess with my laptop’s settings and end up breaking something...

Best regards

At the Grub prompt type exit to return to the Ventoy Menu. Then select the .iso.

Have a read here:

All of the other How To's for Ventoy are in the menu on the left hand side of the page.

Ventoy is a great tool...on a large Flash Drive you can put many ISOs. The problem is the instructions are hard to follow especially for Linux beginners.

When I first looked into using Ventoy I had the same problem but you don't have to be an expert to install Ventoy and use it...there's an easy way.
Forget about Grub...GPT or UEFI...start again and follow these instructions...

Once you have your Ventoy Flash Drive...just download the ISOs and copy and paste them into Ventoy. To Boot to Ventoy...start tapping the correct keyboard key that brings up the Boot Menu...select your Flash Drive from the Menu and hit Enter.

To update your Ventoy Flash Drive...do this...

This is my 32GB Ventoy Flash Drive...

Hope this helps.

AI has an answer for everything but people are free to do whatever they like...I don't re-install Ventoy...I just update it.
