I always found the naming of 'Procul Harum' amusing. The backstory is interesting. Rather than type it out myself, I'll quote Wikipedia to save some time.



So, it's largely just gibberish that people have associated with other things. It all started with a misspelling.

I'd say it's too bad that they didn't have spellcheck, but those words would likely have not been in their dictionary.

He was set to do a concert in Maine some time ago. Due to health reasons, he did not finish the tour. This was to be his next concert. I still have 3 unused VIP tickets to the show. That was just over five years ago. (I dug out said tickets to check. It was June of 2020.)

A part of me is surprised that he lived as long as he did. He, and the musicians he played with, have been an influence to many aspiring musical artists. He will be missed.

Among my prized guitars is one owned previously by Randy Rhoads. It was auctioned off and I could not resist. I'm very much a fan.

Of all the bands I got to see up close and regular back in the Glory Days, these guys made the biggest impression. They were all studio musicians and it showed. They sounded as good or better live than they did on vinyl (and I had a kickass Sansui bring back from Vietnam, direct drive turntable) and could jam a song out to 20 minutes and you still didn't want it to end. Unfortunately for them they never made it as big as some of their local contemporaries, but fortunately for me I got to see them in some smaller venues.

LOL I know! A lot of 'em couldn't but did it anyway. Skynyrd never, ever screwed up but played every song straight off the vinyl lick for lick. Ronnie wanted it that way, and it was his way or the highway. I managed to see them with Steve Gaines twice right at the end (also with backup singers The Honkettes) and they were starting to improvise a little, but were more polished (produced?) and that was kind of disappointing maybe? Motown was also a heavy influence on me, but I didn't get to experience much of that live where I grew at the time up because reasons. James Jamerson, one of the greatest bassists of all time, was a native of nearby Edisto Island. But I did experience a lot of Blues, especially The Allman Brothers. And they could jam one song for a set, even when Dickey was drunk. ;-/
