Yes, I am aware of that, that is why I posted the screenshot above. It is for a drive such as yours.

Can you tell us the exact name of the .iso you downloaded to burn to the USB stick.

For example

linuxmint-21.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso

Well, that is unusual. I can boot up a Live USB stick with that Mint on it and see if I have any ideas.

That may take me a while and I have to go out for an hour first. Maybe consider working on it on your tomorrow unless some one else here has some bright ideas.

I'll post with any suggestions when I have them.

In the pic you posted it shows device, type, mount point, format, size, used,system....

Are you able to click on any of those?....do they produce any result ?

WHich usb stick did you end up using....4gb or 32?gb...
whichever one you used, try the other one. You will have to start from scratch

Is Windows still on that hard drive ??

Reboot the pc....go into bios.

Disable Fastboot

In sata mode, is it set to RST, because you need AHCI for linux (in bios)

"+" & "change" results in the installer crashing. "Install now" results in a no root directory pop up. Same story with "-" only that it allows me to continue, tho no progress is being made. progress stat stays frozen while the slideshow goes on.

looking in the Bios and ran into SATA/NVMe operation. it is set to RAID. it mentions something about "LInux kernal VMD driver" must be loaded"
