I’ve seen this issue a few times, and in many cases it’s related to the kernel or missing firmware.

You can first check which kernel you’re running with:
uname -r

If it’s an older kernel, updating it sometimes fixes hardware problems (especially Wi-Fi and graphics). Also make sure the linux-firmware package is installed, since some devices won’t work properly without it.

Let us know which distro and hardware you’re using and people here can give more specific advice.

How do you install Linux without USB ports?

Today I have tried to play BTTF DVD but it didn´t work. Will troubleshoot more tomorrow. This day has been a cleaning day, like yesterday, so I didn´t have time to sit properly and try to fix the DVD problem

By the way, I am thinking of biting the bullet and making my laptop mint too, but since it´s a really good laptop, I am scared of breaking something HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Today I got frustrated with git and Github and deleted everything and reconnected everything at least 3 times before I was satisfied. I will probably forget what I've learned but that's okay. Also, me using this old pc from 2000's makes it slow somertimes, even with xfce mint on it. So I am thinking of upgrading the RAM to 8 GiB and see how it fares.

Today I learned how to use github on the terminal, it´s fun but now I am even more confused because I have 2 folders that are blue and can´t be clicked on. I am not sure what I am doing to be honest.
Then it took me FOREVER to find a way to make Helium browser work haha
And yesterday I made the desktop look really pretty!

Today and yesterday I learned that MBR errors can be fixed in BIOS with boot orders. Also I found out that there is a small battery that is used for BIOS to work and be shown on a screen. I took a lot of stuff apart and accidentally broke the PCIe release thingy. Now I am resetting that old pc and then I will install Mint on it :3

Hope this would be a Booming Year for Linux. More user friendly and less Terminal dependent.

I upgraded my acer nitro 5 from win 10 to win 11 because windows update stated that this pc met the requirements. 5 months later the pc did not want to boot after the latest 25 update. i slapped in a different hhd drive with win 11 and still did not want to boot. I installed a hdd drive with pre-installed linux mint xia. The pc booted immediately. I have been using Linux mint for about a year now and have it installed on 3 laptops. I swear by it. Thankyou Linux.
