I tried booting Linux Mint on my main computer, but the setup keeps failing, saying something is corrupt.
On all occasions, it just says, "ZSTD-compressed data is corrupt -- System halted"
I used Ventoy.
I'm not an expert so I have no idea how to fix this. I tried unplugging my hard drives, but that didn't help. Yesterday, I tried booting it on a different computer and it did in fact work.

Specifications:)
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z64-V LX (bios version 4105)
-RAM: 8GB ddr3 1648MHz
-Storage: 1.5TB (2 hard drives, both seagate.)
-CPU: Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz

Any way to fix this?

If the root file system has been corrupted you will need to run fsck.

Code:
ZSTD-compressed data is corrupt -- System halted

Is this the only Linux distro installed on one hard drive?

If so you will have to run fsck from a LIVE Linux USB.

Do you have Timeshift installed?

The error isn't from an operating system, it's from the live linux USB itself. I tried redownloading the ISO linux mint file and same outcome.

Down load and use Etcher https://etcher.balena.io to burn the downloaded .iso file to your usb stick and try again.

Hmm... I wonder if there is something wonky going on with Mint downloads...

Though, the other person eventually was able to use their .iso to install in a live system. I think...

If you're trying to install Mint with more than one Drive connected to the Motherboard...of cause it won't work.

First...download the Mint ISO and Verify the checksum... burn the ISO to a Flash Drive with etcher...disconnect all Drives except the one you want to install Mint to.

Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.1 is very good but it can't choose the Drive you want to install it on...that's up to you. When you finish installing Mint...re-connect the other Drives.

Like osprey said verifying the integrity of the .iso file is essential.

Are you using Etcher or Ventoy?

Maybe the circuit board on the usb is done for? Try another usb.

have you turned off secure boot and quick boot in bios?

Is there a different drive in the PC's.....hdd/ssd.m2.nvme...??

ok, so it works on one computer but not on this one - what's different between the two? the other computer, does it have different usb ports? is it newer (less chance of usb ports being bad/damaged)? are there differences in the bios?

my recommendation would be to buy a new usb flash drive (ideally, a good modern one - 3.2 gen2) and then use balena etcher to image it with your iso.

Have you tried another USB Drive? you either have a corrupted download - a bad USB drive - or a bad burn to the USB Drive - since you have used Ventoy you can rule out the the bad burn since you just copy the ISO file to Ventoy
I did try redownloading the ISO file, but same issue, and tried a different USB.

The other computer is a Lenovo office PC, and nothing is damaged in neither of them, I'm sure of it.

In our experience, if the USB stick doesn't have gold plated contacts, it's trouble!

For example , a late relative sent us a cheap stick with shiny contacts (like chrome plating). We could only read part of the drive.

The problem is with the Asus board and bios You must make sure secure boot is turned off and quick start or fast boot if windows is installed is turned off also.

Fastboot and Secure boot are both already turned off
