So, you want to 'do a pewdiepie'....have firefox open pc startup ??

oops !

sowwy.

(smacks his own wrist)

That's the thing, I don't have external drive currently if not counting usb(it's 64gb). It's not end of the world though if I have to reinstall, takes only couple minutes. Projects are on GitHub repository, so no panic. :).

I have looked Timeshift before anyway, once I get external drive I will sure start using it.

With 32 GB RAM.

It is a LONG way from being even close to new.....Ancient would be a more appropriate term

The ram makes a huge difference to its performance

This will hopefully give those running old clunkers something to compare to.

The motherboard is in excess of 10 years old

Thanx! Would be nice if you applied this philosophy to me and to what I wrote. ;)

I'm going to guess, based on what I see, is that self-reflection isn't your strong suit. I have done that with your posts, very much so. I've seen you attempt to argue with anyone and anything. I've seen you find trivial things and then nitpick them with people who aren't interested. I've seen you seemingly being contrary just for the sake of being a contrarian.

No, I don't let it get to me. I slept fine last night. If you hadn't replied, I'd have pretty much forgotten the exchange.

Back in the day, we'd strongly suggest lurking before posting, that way you could see the type of community you're entering. There are other forums where people carry around ego and want to argue with everyone. You might be better suited for those forums.

I'm gonna hope we move on from here and you don't try the martyr role.

Autostart works differently on the various desktop environments, it also works differently on labwc or whatever wayland versus xorg.

On xfce and lxde I just copy the app's .desktop file to the autostart directory.

I have deleted former #46 to former #58, as all 13 posts were off topic.

Please try to stick to the subject, which is about placing apps or scripts in Autostart, so that they start when you reach your Desktop.

TIA

You can do this with probably any of the apps pinned to your panel......I chose Librewolf, Thunderbird and Firefox, because that is what I use.

I run Linux mint cinnamon 22.1

Right click on the firefox icon on your panel; and select edit. Then copy the command there (firefox %u)

Then open Startup Applications from the menu

click on the + sign down the bottom, and then Custom Command

Give it a name (Firefox or whatever...)

Paste the copied command in the 'command' box

You can delay the startup if you wish....I delay them by 2, 3 & 4 seconds

Be sure to click on ADD at the bottom

Reboot the pc

Voila....Firefox ! etc

I also do this with Thunderbird & Librewolf
have you seen his video? he used time command, 'time firefox', he didn't run any custom script with 'sleep 2'

once the app opens (1st boot) then booting it again runs the app much faster, he must have used extensions kdocker to run browser in background always, that's why he said it's a silly fix
