Curious and curiouser said Alice, but ta.:)

We'll see what Hillbilly comes back with.

Just checking, code shows

@Hillbilly H , can you help by telling us if you can view my song at #1156 above?

TIA

Chris

i get the "The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

Cheers Mate, wonder what's going on, I am posting them same way as I always do - do you remember if you have ever had a problem with any others of my vids?

TIA

Try this one, please....

and this one

...He said it, not me, lol.

The last one has the best sound quality, but the first one featured footage from the film, AND some audio, which was why I was trying to use it. None of the others have the film sound, unfortunately.

Oh well, onwards and upwards, but thanks a lot, Brian, you're solid gold. Maybe a platinum LP.

I Never cared for the Sound of Being Alone. Neil Diamond.

The person who uploads the track also decides where the track can be played. Not all content is available in all countries.

Brian - that one you deleted does play for me. Only difference is that when I run my cursor over it, instead of seeing the Fickle Finger of Fate, the cursor remains unchanged. I then click it and it plays.

It was the closest to what I first posted, in that it featured the vocalist Philip Oakey from Human League worked into footage from the film. Only some of the film voices were missing that were in mine.

To that effect, I have undeleted it to see if our American friends can play it. It is now #1164.

Can you please elaborate that for me a little?

All I ever do is, having found the youtube video in a Google search and opened it in a new tab
  1. Click the address bar content, which then highlights
  2. Right click and copy the URL
  3. In my Reply Pane toolbar here choose the paper clip for insert link
  4. Paste the link
and when I have posted, the vid appears and I check it.

This has worked for me throughout all my vids through 59 pages until now.

TIA and Avagudday

Chris

Ta (thanks in Aussie) very much Mate.

There you go, Brian, was worth a shot.

If you upload a track to YouTube you can also decide what regions it will play in. You can select 'worldwide' or you can limit it to just some regions/countries. Often, you'll find people deciding to not show it in the US if it's copyright protected - but that isn't going to stop anything. I'm not sure why they do that.

But, yeah, you can pick whatever area(s) you want. You can make it US only, US excluded, and such.

@wizardfromoz

Re post #1164....while using brave browser it will not play for me....If I instead I try it in Chromium it plays without hesitation.

Brian, ta, I wondered whether browsers might factor into it.

I wonder if there is a way to tell what they chose before I paste the URL here?

That would be VERY helpful if it were possible

Metallica v Napster 2000, Napster settled 2001.

That'd be neat.

Yup. That's pretty much my point. Disallowing US views isn't going to do a thing to stop them from having the video taken down (if they want). The rights groups know how to use a VPN. They're still playing whack-a-mole today.

(I woke up.)

This may be of interest:

Also, it's IP (Geolocation) data that YouTube uses. If you change your IP to a US IP address then you too should see that it's restricted content.
