For anyone who has Balena Etcher installed via ppa...the Balena people are transitioning from Binray to Cloudsmith, and as such the old PPA will not work anymore.
When your Update Manager runs (either manually or as scheduled) it will present an error similar to below...
Never fear....the solution is here !
Running Balena via a ppa means that the balena etcher package is kept up to date via your Update Manager.
For those running a Debian related OS....(Ubuntu, Linux mint etc)
Debian package
add new PPA:
curl -1sLf \
'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/balena/etcher/setup.deb.sh' \
| sudo -E bash
install etcher:
sudo apt install -y balena-etcher-electron
For those running an ARM OS (Arch Linux etc etc)
rpm package
add new PPA:
curl -1sLf \
'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/balena/etcher/setup.rpm.sh' \
| sudo -E bash
install etcher:
sudo yum install -y balena-etcher-electron
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For anyone unfamiliar with the Terminal, simply Copy all of this...
curl -1sLf \
'https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/balena/etcher/setup.deb.sh' \
| sudo -E bash
....and paste it (ctrl shift V) into the Terminal.......hit enter....type in your password......and it will do its thing
When that finishes,....copy and paste in...: sudo apt install -y balena-etcher-electron
Allow it to do its thing also.
Thats it....you are done.
