Printer Properties Unresponsive Won't Close

No, I went to printer properties Help?. Followed steps and tried debugging it completed. I don't exactly how I got to CUPS but I chose it and was able to print "test page" after that. I wanted to make sure it was working OK so I opened Pictures and chose one and opened it and right clicked to find options TO PRINT and there are none.
I can't see a print icon anywhere. What am I missing??
You can try the keyboard shortcut for print while in the picture program. Ctrl + P.

Okay thanks I'll give it a whirl and it worked. Man, I feel like a duck "out of water". But I will persist as I am eager to learn MX.

I am able to print out a picture with no problem. So, I don't understand why you are telling me
that if I don't follow your instructions, you'll have large paper weight? I certainly don't want that but printer seems to be functioning okay. Well, I guess I spoke too soon. I open Pictures and open an individual photo and try to print but there is no option to print by rt. click. There is no print icon anywhere. Why?? Man, this is getting exasperating! But I will persist through some help. Thanks
Well, I tried following your instructions and went to Downloads and Rt clicked to "save as to downloads then open Thunar file and it does not show up. Why? What am I doing wrong?

The file manager doesn't know how to print, there is never a print option in any that I've used. To print a photo, you need to use an application that can open the photo. There is usually an "Open with..." option, which lets you open the file in the default application for the file type.

Please read my full answer #24. I followed directions from bob466 in post#23. I saved to downloads but it is not there to open and run. I use 'nomacs' to open Pictures.

Just to clarify I read correctly your saying your opening your picture/file in nomacs and saying there is no option to print after right clicking. I'm using MX as well so I have nomacs (although I don't like it) as the default program for pictures/images. I tried using right click and I don't see any option to print. Using your mouse click on file on the upper left corner and you will see the print option there or you can press Alt + F then press P to get to the same option using your keyboard or as I mentioned earlier you can just hit Ctrl + P to bring up the print window.

Right-clicking is not a universal shortcut to anything other than a menu, which may or may not provide a print option.

Found that thanks. When I hit print a print dialogue box pops-up and the display is:
Printer Name= Epson epson Stylus Nx110
Location= MX
Type=Epson Stylus Nx 115 - Cups + Gutenprint V5.3.4

Why is Printer Name showing Epson Nx 110 ?
and Type showing NX 115 Cups, etc.I am thoroughly confused.
As the saying goes, I'm not the sharpest tool in the toolbox but installing a printer and have it function should not be this difficult. I have not learned to post screenshot in this forum as that would be of help. Have to leave until tomorrow.

Posting screenshot is easy. Go to the start/applications menu and type in screenshot and hit enter. Go to the directory you saved the screenshot in then click on the file and press Ctrl + C and go to your post and paste it in (Ctrl + V).

You can also install Flameshot. Enter sudo apt-get install flameshot in terminal. Flameshot is what I use to mark up the screenshots with the red arrows.

A quick note on Flameshot...

If you upload the file and then link to it, it uploads it to Imgur, which is now somehow blocked in at least one country. That means not everyone will see the image.

Doing it as you suggested is just fine. My only point is that uploading it is now not an effective solution.

I have configured Shutter to use my own storage, which I do use from time to time. I figure every file we upload to this site is just more storage that needs to be paid for. Plus, I already have ample hosting for this use case.

OP,

If you followed my easy to follow instructions...you would see in the Downloads Folder this...

Double click it...you'll see this...
1774220865187.png

Double click...Install Package...what's so hard about that.

Printers/Scanners don't work without Drivers..this also applies to windoze.

I followed your instructions to download then I get a bunch gobbly-gook which is the download info or download. I rt. click and "save as" ( that's the only option) and it takes me to my download folder and but there is no pkg to install like the pic you show.

If your printer was working before not sure if its a driver issue but did you download the right file from the Epson website it should be:

Yes, I double checked an followed the example. I downloaded the drivers as suggested and input United States as Country Not New Zealand. When I click on download a picture opens up with binary and all kinds of symbols. When I right click downloads folder is highlighted and it does nothing when I try to open as there is nothing there?? So, go figure. I get no pic of a download as your example has shown. I haven't a clue as to why? I have downloaded many programs and installed but this has got me perplexed. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around MX Linux after Windows for so many years and it has been frustrating. I do appreciate the assistance the forum members have given and will try to persist.

This is what you are getting right?

Looks like I am unable to get a download file either so I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Looks like it worked for Bob though. Maybe he can assist or send you the file somehow.

So the above was using Mullvad browser which is a Firefox based browser. I tried it and again using Chromium browser and the download was successful. Try again with a chromium based browser or another browser if you have.

No, I haven't taken the time. Printer problem took priority

I meant try the download again using a different web browser. Preferably a chromium based browser.

Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open up a terminal then type the following command and hit enter to install chromium.
Code:
sudo apt-get install chromium

Then open up chromium and try downloading the the driver again using the above steps and it should work this time.
