Linux and Printers Conundrum

That didn't work either. Bunch of giberish stuff comes up. When I download the driver, A folder appears. I open the folder and a plethora of files show up. From there I'm lost because there is no actual install.

It does help if you follow instructions...
Here is your Driver ET-3850 Folder and here is the install package that I downloaded...

You just need to double click...Install Package...you will also need to download the Scanner Driver too and remember...install the Drivers first.

My printer is the ET-2800. I don't get that folder or screen.

Right click on the download button it should say download as or something like it and save it. That should work.
The same thing thing happens if you try to download for example virtualbox.run (generic download) but only see a bunch of characters, it just means you have to tell your browser to download it as an debian package so you can install it on Linux Mint.

There is also a manual way but that requires a .ppd file if it is available to get the printer working via cups and using the printer as a scanner you need sane-utils

Tried to download your drivers just now and I stumbled on what you encountered. To get your deb package just click on the download button so it opens up the jibberish page, on that page right click save the page and it should save it now as epson-printer-utility_1.2.2-1_amd64.deb/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2_1.2.38-1_amd64.deb and that works. I know it's frustrating but I have seen a lot of strangs thing we as /unix/linux user have to do.

OK. Thanks for the Right Click step. That did not come with the instructions. Ha Ha. Got the Linux Deb(x64) installed, rebooted the laptop, turn on the printer.
So far so good, it's printing. Will keep ya'll informed. Thanks.

If it has also a scanner it will be same way.
Glad it worked for you at last :D

Can't yell Victory yet. After a while the printers disappeared again, had to restart. I'm starting to think it's a network issue.

I have a TPlink wifi7 router. unable to log into TPlink. they restructured their login process.

OK, I had to reset the router, and reset the wi-fi and passwords on all machines. Installed the printer driver and set the epson ET-2800 as the Default on all laptops except the Windows. The HP envy 6055e is a trouble maker; Does not want to connect to wi-fi. No big deal. It is specifically designed I guess to be set up and work only with Windows and the hp smart (hp) app. So it is pushed aside.
So far so good. Let´s see how it goes.:wine:
