Post a screenshot of your Desktop

apparently not for programmers.

i actually have this. three sisters. starting with "gemini." it's awesome with kde plasma. but limiting in a way. "andromeda" is the only thing based on debian "trixie" i have going on. but i haven't logged into it in two weeks.

once i tried to upgrade it to "forky testing." it failed because it desired to get rid of all development tools. which is a no-go on any linux imo! "q4os-desktop" package caused a huge dependency failure.

also i don't like trinity desktop. looked no how to me like windowsxp. unfriendly with trying to reduce screen brightness.

my very first try with q4os was "gemini" with trinity desktop. after messing around a bit with "gamma". and other screen settings. and garbling my screen. and barely able to get sane settings back. i asked for kde plasma installed over it instead. a short time ago. i downloaded the iso only with plasma. reinstalled that operating system. it flies pretty much over anything else. but it's becoming quite worthless. for music production and other things. since many music-creation tools created this year and last year. require "glibc" 2.38. also the need to use jack instead of pipewire. is clunky on "bullseye" base. but that's just me complaining.

the "aquarius" is nice too. but for some reason. gwenview there sucks in performance. i facepalm after i tried "anylinux" appimage of the same program. done with qt6 instead of qt5. it launches slowly but works fast like it's supposed to.

taskbar for my taste is too small, cartoonish and modern looking, not my taste sorry.
Hell, ya didn't need to be quite THAT brutal & "personal" about it...

IMHO, that's not bad for an early attempt. We're supposed to encourage people, not slag them off!

Anyways; as stated above, the OP's using it.....not us. You shoulda seen MY early attempts a decade ago.....they were CRAP. But I was still quite proud of myself....and had a whole heap of fun in the process.

@tsylvain :-

Don't mind @CaffeineAddict . I guess he's having one of his "grouchy" days...

Mike. o_O :p

Mine used to look stock.. And then just be so incoherent with panels in various spots. You should have seen my first neon install...

Panels... panels almost everywhere.

A Lot better than my first one, and that's good! Looks nice!

Nice!

Decided to have a little change and put something different on it - an American 1990 beauty with 5.7L V8. :D

Nice wall paper.

The engine spec reminds me of one of my favorite GM cars - a '79 Oldsmobile Delta 88 sedan with what I laughingly referred to as a "5.7 liter multi-port fuel injected engine"... which, to my friends sounded like the latest in new-fangled engine technology but it was actually a v8 diesel. Sadly, while it did last long enough to get my money's worth out of it (I bought it used for under a grand), it did eventually throw a rod (right through the side of the crank case!) while cruising at speed along the Ohio turnpike.

Here's another one I'm experimenting with. Fossapup F96-CE.
At the moment I am familiarizing myself with the native theme manager/builder that comes with the majority of Puppies. In the end the plan is to come up with themes of my own and make them available to the Puppy community.

The goal of the themes is to increase readability for a steady workflow without constraining ones eyesight.
There are plenty of really fancy themes out there (which is cool) but working with these themes can be exhausting after a while.
Although Puppy is often seen as a toy or a novelty distro there are scores of people actually using it as a daily driver and are behind the screen for the better part of the day to get the job done.

What you see here is by no means the 'end product'. It is just fancy enough to show you guys what Puppy can do. On hardware most folks are on the verge tossing in the bin lol. Don't!

A neighbour of mine has exactly that Chevy Silverado pickup with 5.7L V8, but it's gasoline, not diesel. When I hear the gurgling of that gasoline V8, I forget my name. It does a better job at wakin' me up than the alarm clock on my smartphone. :D :D
