Trinity Tde Desktop on Ubuntu with my car. She's old and guzzles gas, but fun to drive and tinker with. Not a true papers matching 1972 Chevelle SS, but may as well be with the 454 big block, upgrades and heart throbbing rumble.

for the car and for the "Humanity" icons. :D I thought I was the only one still using them after more than 10 years.

Awww .. me too actually. Sometimes I try to make believe im still in the 90's or early 2000's :P
Thanx
I don't care how old these icons are, I'll use them for as long as they work, even if that means 40 years more! :D
This is the bookmarks side panel of my file manager. "Humanity-Dark for life!" :D :D

haha! It looks like my side panel. I agree with you :)

1972 Chevelle SS,

I would have been wrong. I noticed the picture before reading the text and thought it was a 71.

And, yeah, a car doesn't have to be 'numbers-matching' in order to enjoy it. Heck, you probably enjoy it more than many of the people who own a true numbers-matching example. In their case, they may not want to drive it all that often because too many miles can lower the value, and any damage will also lower the value.

In all, It just winds up a Good Driver!

71's and 72's were so similar with the round tail lights. 71's parking lights had a different frame on them. My very first car i ever owned was a 72. That's why I got that one in the pict. I try to keep it true to the times for the most part, but i'm not afraid to change some stuff. I'm actually considering a upgrade to fuel injection verses the 4 barrel carb. I dunno. I'm certainly not afraid to drive it! haha. I love when one of these new mustangs or dodges pull up next to me. The wow factor shoots out their eyes hehe.

Kinda like my desktop being revived kde3 trinity, or fluxbox. Classic! :)

I'm fiddling with using fluxbox as Kde3 trinity's window manager. It's a pretty cool mixture if you can tweak it right and get use to it. Fluxbox is just a stand alone window manager. Lightening fast without the burden of a desktop.

Something like Holley's Terminator X? They're even 'self-learning' these days, though you can also tune them -- which might be a fun time doing some dyno testing.

I have a collection of cars, which, I'm pretty sure, I've shared some pics of in the past. Some of them don't really get driven outside of being given a few miles (on a rotating schedule) to keep things properly lubricated and functional. Sitting idle for too long is bad for automobiles.

There are some that get no miles added to them, so I just consider those to be art and investments. A good example is a Dodge Omni GLH from 1986 that I picked up from a Mecum auction. It has under 200 miles on it, and I've done only ~10% of those miles. It sits on tire-saver mats while getting periodically started. Instead of using a tender, there's a battery kill-switch.

Anyhow, I don't want to derail the thread too much. We should have an 'automobile' thread in the off-topic section.

Very cool! For me it wasn't an investment really. Just my passion for that specific model I use to have. I picked it up fairly cheap and fixed it up. It had a restoration before I got it so it's clean underneath without rust. It's a driver to me. an artsy one representing a cool era. I ignore the milage. Just keep it going with maintenance.

I'm Curious, Is there any way to get rounded borders on the XFCE "Dock"?

With regard to directory icons, I have an identical set-up across the "kennels".

I forget exactly where I found these:-

When BarryK stepped down as 'benevolent dictator' - around 2013-ish; just before I joined the community - our then 'Head honcho' of the new 'Woof-CE' community set-up was Michael Amadio (01Micko on the Puppy forums) who had for quite some time been the driving force behind the Slackware-based 'Slacko'-series Puppies. (Mick's all but faded into history over the last 3 or 4 years - a very rare visitor these days; life's took him in a different direction now - but his legacy lives on. And he's STILL a dedicated Slackware user).

I was inspired by the directory icons Mick had used in Slackos 5.6.0 & 5.70.....but they weren't quite what I wanted. I performed a spot of DuckDuckGo-fu, and eventually unearthed the above wee gems. Originally, they came in a darker shade of grey; I prefer dark themes - found the above one (called 'SlicknesS-black' ) over on the "Gnome-look" website - so I modified them into a lighter shade.

(Be honest; are those not just the neatest 'context' menus EVER....huh?) :p

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't go a lot on the Gnome DE itself, but that site has a ton of nifty GTK 'system' themes, cursor themes and assorted icons'n'stuff which DO appeal to me. I don't really use co-ordinated themes as such, preferring to make my own up, and have a very eclectic mix of stuff TBH.....including the well-known 'Bibata Modern Ice' cursor theme.
Never did like being 'pigeon-holed'!
Been using this set-up for 8 or 9 years now. Don't see me changing anytime soon, either...
(shrug...)
Mike. ;)
