Nice desktop but we have minors here, so if you would be so kind to change it to something family friendly if you are sharing here. Thanks! This is my desktop I've begun using for my class, and used the same photo I use on my Windows desktop, have yet to add much yet or personalize it but enjoy the background image which I found on instagram.
I'm using Noctalia.
There's also DankShell if you prefer that, and others but those are the most popular ones.
After you install it you have a settings menu to configure everything and you can then just save your configuration in Git.![]()
Been using Wayland for over 5-6 years or so now. With 2 Nvidia gpu's and and AMD gpu in between. The only problem I had when it wasn't that good yet was with screen-sharing as it would break sometimes and a flicker glitch with Nvidia when using the Steam client. But both of those have been fixed several years ago. Used it with KDE Plasma(for a short time), Gnome, Hyprland and Niri.my problem with both is you have to use Wayland
i play a lot and use a 2070S so i had some problem with it also why im on X11.Been using Wayland for over 5-6 years or so now. With 2 Nvidia gpu's and and AMD gpu in between. I have a 2070S some years back when it was just released, back then Wayland wasn't as good as it is now. Can't say how it would be for that card now. But with the newer Nvidia drivers over the years it has gotten good. So no idea what you are running into but whatever works for you, I like Wayland. But at work I use Xfce for my virtual workstation so I can use xrdp for a remote desktop session, as I've not found a good Wayland alternative for that.i play a lot and use a 2070S so i had some problem with it also why im on X11.
@TrentYesThatTrent Since you liked my reply about this and you didn't change your shared screenshot, I removed it for you. We don't need minors seeing that.Nice desktop but we have minors here, so if you would be so kind to change it to something family friendly if you are sharing here. Thanks!
Yeah I get what you’re saying, and honestly I’ve also started running into some limits with XFCE lately.I have a 2070S some years back when it was just released, back then Wayland wasn't as good as it is now. It'd be curious to know when you run into things, so I can try them on my Hyprland setup just for fun. It's not like I play a lot of old games, mostly new games and some Indy games. It would be cool if you created a topic about this of your experiences about this as here is mainly meant for sharing your desktop. That said, I still expect some problems, especially with older or 32-bit games. Many of those were built around older X11 assumptions, and while XWayland handles most compatibility pretty well, there are still edge cases especially with older OpenGL titles, legacy launchers, or games that expect direct control over window management or input.
I still need to figure out the best way to do live streaming without running it directly on my main PC. Right now I’m thinking about cloning the output signal one to my monitor and one to a capture card in another PC and then using a jack output from my mixer to send audio to that second PC.It'd be curios to know when you run into those, so I can try them on my Hyprland setup just for fun. Speaking of old games, did you see this new update came out for UT2004 two days ago?
