Hi everybody,
I started this forum straight from "getting started" before exploring the forum further and noticing this "Introduction" thread. So let's make it right now
I'm not even a new Linux user yet, since my install party is to-morrow, can't wait!
My story with computer is a long one since I wrote (and punched!!!) my first Fortran lines in 1965 during an internship at CERN. Then I followed the stream of personal computing from the ZX81 (who emember that time? ), the ZX spectrum .... then .... then Windows10! and I really enjoyed it.
Prodessionally I am a retired scientist (Mechanics of Materials , see http:\\sitasido.ec-lyon.fr - works with firefox - if you're curious) and i had a (small) experience of UNIX.
I thought about Linux for quite a long time ( following my ever-increasing dislike of windows, I liked windows 3.1 and 7 but each later version was for me worse than the previous one) but never crossed the line . Windows11 and copilot did the trick !!!
So here I am, fresh like a newbie but I already feel at home in the Linux Community, starting from the present forum.
Internet is like Aesopus's tongue, let's ignore ( or at least try to) the worse of it to focus on and enjoy the best.
Thanks you all for being here
François
