Linux for infants: I have a 2 year old grandson who is fascinated with my laptop.

I would like to install one or more apps on an old laptop so that my 2 year old grandson can play on it without messing it up. Does anyone have any suggestions? I prefer to install an app or two that will allow him to tap keys and scroll around, but I might be willing to install a distro for this purpose. Thanks for your input!
