Welcome to the forums young'en
This looks like a 2010 machine, if so there may be minor driver problems only, if it's had W8.2 or higher make sure you disable secure boot and fast boot [if active]
see my how do i install guide [link below]

G'day barry, Welcome to Linux.org

How much ram does that pc have ?

Hello @barrycinti,
Welcome to the Linux.org forum. @Brickwizard has given you good advice. Make sure secure boot is turned off.
This page may be of help also. It looks like your machine should work fine.

@Condobloke

Brian its there mate
""Memory: 3.56 GiB ""
thats 4gb less what's reserved for the graphics etc

@barrycinti ....it should run ok...maybe a bit slow.....but should not brick it.

Cinnamon is the 'heavier' of the choices.

As it's a 14 yr old machine [same age as this one I am using], he may be better with Mint LMDE6, as it's lighter than Mint21.
That's what this one runs [with cinnamon] and only 4gb Ram . The OP may consider [subject to finance] swapping the HDD plate spinner for a SSD

Agreed.

I have a 12 year old Laptop...4GB of RAM...64bit and an i5 CPU...it's running Mint Cinnamon 21.1 just fine.

The only thing I changed was the HDD for a 500GB SSD some time ago...with only 4GB of Ram you can't multi-task or dual boot (something I never do)...I'm using 3GB of Ram now with my Tower which has 16GB.

You could try Linux Lite or Mint Mate which don't require a lot of Ram but these days I would say 8GB of Ram would be the smallest I'd use.

Thanks to all. I install Linux Mint and it works great. I plan to use this old laptop for browsing and email. I may try other functions later on. I setup various options and performed other suggestions in order to learn new things. The terminal mode brought back the old days 24 years ago when I setup firewalls and proxy servers:) How can I marked this thread as being resolved? Thanks again.

Congratulation @barrcinti enjoy! :)
