Now I have connected my TV screen ( LG 42LD450 ) via HDMI to the computer and I have

a great desktop view, but when I want to play a movie or mp3 files I get no sound, even de tests (front left and front right)

don't work.

Can someone help me please?

Connect your computer to the TV pick a Chanel and play. now open the sound manager [speaker on bottom left of screen, se;ect sound manager, make sure your tv is showing along the top, click on it and check it not mute or the sound turned down [you need it about 3/4 of the way up

@ Brickwizard
Hi Brick I payeg some flower power music via VLC, I openen the Soundmanager and as far as I can see
it is not muted, yhet is there is no cross through the speaker emblem

the thing is I have another Linux installation on an older computer which is also connected to the TV screen via
HDMI 2 , but there and don't have any sound issues. The installation without sound issues shows in the soundmanager
the following device HDMI/Displayport GK208 HDMI/DP Audio Controller where as in the soundmanger of the installtion with sound issues I cannot find such a thing?????

How do I get the following driver: Xserver-Xorg-video-nouveau version 1:1.0.17-2ubuntu0.1
and install it??

Yippy Solved the problem, first I downloaded Xserver-Xorg-video-nouveau version 1:1.0.17-2ubuntu0.1
and installed it (see below)
  1. Update the package index: $ sudo apt-get update
  2. Install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau deb package: $ sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
But that didn't do the trick, then I installed a couple of Kernels from the 6.11 line (6.11.0-29 and 6.11.0-28) via the update manager end restarted the computer pressing the shift keys constantly so I got to the advanced boot menu and choose to start-up with the 6.11.0-29 genric kerel .
and low and behold my sound was back and all worked fantastic rebooted a couple of times but still
everything fine, So I hope other readers can benefit from this if they have a similar issue like I had.

@Dionysos welcome to linux.org, and well done.

If you are happy with the outcome after a few reboots or a few days, just go to your first post, choose Edit Thread and click No Prefix and choose Solved.

Enjoy your Linux... and your sound. (and take a Timeshift snapshot).
