My PC: Lenovo Thinkpad T540p.
HDDs: An SSD, 16GB and a 2.5" SATA HDD, 1TB.
OSs: Windows 7 is on the PC but does not boot. Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon is installed on the SATA HDD and is operating.

How to install Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon as the sole OS on the PC?
Thanks.

The SSD is only 16GB ?....or is that a typo

Windows 7 is on the PC but does not boot.
Re-install Linux mint 22.2 cinnamon and choose ' erase whole disk and install Linux mint ' option during installation.

Seems like it Brian, the original spec was a 256gb ssd and 4th gen I5 so Mint LMDE may be better as its a bit lighter, but both would fit with the OP's request

just read it again, looks like it may be a newer model with a HDD storage and a small SSD for the OS in which case its not big enough for Mint 22

I will wait for the OP to clarify, Brian

The option at install type is erase the disk, not erase whole disk. I selected erase the disk and install Linux Mint, the installer erased the previous Linux Mint and installed Linux Mint on the same partition of the HDD. Windows remained untouched.

Do not know what the original spec was. I bought it from a store in 2014. Used it for a year or 15 months, and it was replaced by another one with Windows 10.
Some of the hardware:
CPU : Intel Core i7 i7-4710MQ 2.5 GHz
RAM : DDR3L-SDRAM 1600 MHz 8gb
HDD1 : SanDisk SSD U110 16gb
HDD2 : SATA 2.5"HDD 1T 5400rpm WDC WD10JPVX-08JC3T5

Am a newbie to Linux. Have learnt a little bit of running Linux Mint Cinnamon. Not willing to shift to any other disto or desktop.

Then you have to choose third option ' something else ', format the windows partition and then install Linux mint cinnamon.

Thanks again,

HDD1 : SanDisk SSD U110 16gb
HDD2 : SATA 2.5"HDD 1T 5400rpm WDC WD10JPVX-08JC3T5

The OEM OS was Windows 8 and was installed on the SSD. I was on a business trip and needed a laptop with Windows 7 Pro. The store replace Windows 8 with Windows 7 on my request.
The laptop was used for about 12 to 15 months and replaced with another one with Windows 10.
Thanks.

Frank and simple. I do not know how to handle the third option.

Are you sure this is not a SD card ?

For all the messing around it may save, it may go well for you to buy a suitable SSD 250GB

the above is precisely why I asked about it being a sd card
