Welcome, gamma_.

Probably some of the info in your old Unix systems boot will still be applicable. What title is it?

Well there you have it. It says right on the cover that it's "Up-to-Date". ;)

I found an excerpt of that online at the internet archive (archive.org) and it does seem a bit dated. I'm sure the bits on shell usage and scripting are worth a look but the actual content wasn't available in what I was looking at. I'll bet you can find more applicable and current books (for free, online). As a caveat, many of the modern online books aren't worth the paper they're printed on although, in their defense, many of them were never intended to be printed on actual paper.

1996 I believe. It is old but still is some what useful and fun to see the odd parts of UNIX systems in that era.
