It's really interesting that UNIX has come a long way since it begginings. It powers the internet and telecommunications. And some japanese products such as Nintendo and Sony have even used freeBSD to modify it and tailor it to their game consoles.
I don't know I just think that it's really remarkable that open source software in general exist because without it our society and the technology itself wouldn't evolve the way it had done today.
