Crossover Music, Easy Listening, & Light Classical

It's never too late to play. I've shared some of my work in the past. I'm a classical guitarist by training, though I've been paid to perform pretty much anything but classical guitar. There was a period in my life when I needed the money. It didn't pay well, but it fit into my schedule, or could be forced to fit into my schedule. I'd eventually no longer need the money, but I kept performing.

I'm now more or less retired. It has been a little bit, as some aspects of my life are kept private, but I have a band that is willing to let me come sit a few sets whenever I want.
I would love to hear you play, David! :)

Romany Gilmour...youngest of eight

Alice Gilmour – the firstborn who chose a completely private life.
Clare Gilmour – born during The Wall era, yet living far from fame.
Sara Gilmour – a fashion stylist and editor who found her own voice in Milan’s style scene.
Matthew Gilmour – a musician who battled cancer, survived, and released his own album.
Charlie Gilmour – David’s adopted son who went from prison headlines to acclaimed author of Featherhood.
Joe Gilmour – an award-winning theatre director shaping the UK stage world.Gabriel Gilmour – a creative actor and designer who even appeared on Downton Abbey and the cover of David’s 2024 album.
Romany Gilmour – the youngest, a rising singer and harpist who now records and performs alongside her dad.

Daughter or granddaughter?

He has four children with his first wife, Ginger Gilmour, and four more with his second wife, Polly Samson, whom he married in 1994. His relationship with his kids has been described as warm and supportive, and some of them have even followed creative paths.

Romany is David and Polly's daughter.

And I'm sure he's not a polygamist. ;)

LOL He might be! Well, he might just have had multiple partners at various stages in his life and, you know, as a rockstar some of those may have overlapped!

That said, I'll share this:

It's on theme. I'm not the only person on the track. I play the percussion and lead guitar. The other instruments are not played by me. The other parts are either covered by the missus or a future music teacher who lived with us at the time (it's a long story).

But, I'm now several glasses of wine deep, so I'll leave it at that. That link should work. I consider it a point of pride when an online audio host nails me for copyright infringement. If they do that, it means I did my job correctly -- and they too did their job correctly.

Wow! Thanks. David, you sound exactly like David Gilmour!

Thanks! That's the goal. It may sound odd, but I like recreating music as close to the original as possible. I've invested a lot of time to do just that. It's not easy, which is one of the biggest reasons why I enjoy it. I have a large collection of equipment that helps me do this, which has also been fun to acquire.

I don't want to derail the thread, so I'll leave it at that. My PM inbox is always available, should you have questions or want a few more links.

I like Christmas, too!

Wiz
Like it or not Christmas Season has started and I like Christmas Season.

I totally forgot about that youtube violinist. Remembered watching this a long time ago:

Anyway listening to classical music (referring to the Mozart post) is good for the brain.

and I daresay listening/watching Lindsay Sterling doing her thing, wouldnt produce any adverse affect, either....

Moonlight Sonata, anyone...?....listen to the end

I loved the shy little smile at the end ^^^^^^^^^

Tina is a solid guitarist. Her adaptations of classical music into neo-classical guitar are pretty good. She has also improved a great deal over the years. She does some pretty solid 'sweep picking'.

If you're more into the classical side of things, look no further than Ana Vidovic. She's a sponsored guitarist from Siccas Guitars. And, well, she's amazing.

Many people think that it's the fast stuff that's hard to play. It's really not. It's often the slow stuff with weird timing that's hard to play. That and those slow periods are often using more complicated choral patterns.

One of my faves will always be Tommy Emmanuel.

Here's his take on Mason Williams' "Classical Gas".
