Another guy switching from windows

I have already given you how to install VLC

Brave browser , from the terminal sudo apt update && apt install extrepo -y

followed by sudo / extrepo enable brave_release

then sudo apt update && apt install brave-browser -y

You cannot say that it rules and then put an "if" after your affirmation. ;)
That's my exact problem, everybody recommends mint and ubuntu, but plasma works really good for me, at least for a live iso.
You're on good track! (by exploring distros yourself) something new users don't seem to do based on questions so far.

IF you run Fidora then the instructions i have given in the previous post won't work they are for Debian [Mint/Ubuntu/Debian/MX etc]

i didn't try anything else because it moved like a dinosaur, really really slow. And it's strange because of this, i tried multiple times and it's the same.
Were you running a live iso from a USB stick? If so it is normal for it to be much slower. A full install will run much faster as your not booting/running from a USB stick.

Fedora is good. If you like that stick with it. It uses dnf instead of apt.

You could try MX KDE as well. What sets MX apart from the rest is you have everything you need out of the box including mx-snapshot which allows you to create a live iso of your system and then install it on any other machine.

Ok, so far so good. I properly installed plasma and it seems ok for now. I also tried celluloid instead of vlc as mentioned above and it works great. I synced everything for my brave and it looks good, libre for the office work seems to do the job. Even my printer and scanner worked from the first try. Brave was killed by something...however it was not closed so that's strange, and after that it worked better...
I have to add to my dictionary the word repository and whatever that means.
For my next step do you have any light reading about beginning to use fedora? It would be very awesome, even some tips and tricks would help. Do i need an antivirus here?
And i would like to thank everyone for the help and ideas, it really helped. Thank you

My favorites are distro wikies, man pages and search engine; not sure how good Fedora's wikies are.

No, all you need is to practice "safe computing", there are some gotchas that apply mostly to Linux users but not to Windows users.

My rule No.1 Don't be naive and believe Linux is safe only because malware for Linux is rare.
It can be as simple as running a package from untrusted source from an author nobody knows anything about.

You should note Fedora uses SELinux which may give you issues when installing/running some programs. You can disable it if needed.

Most people don't use antivirus just make sure the firewall (firewalld) in Fedora is turned on. I believe it is by default.

i use brave, qBittorrent, office, vlc for movies and a cracked photoshop (kinda important), and a canon printer with scanner.
I'm little late, you turned already... You seem very determined!

1)You're not gonna need qBittorrent because you will have now Transmission preinstalled but if you insist you can have qBittorrent on Linux, it is quite good

2) You can have Brave and vlc running just like in Windows

3) Most likely your printer will work in Linux

4)As the guys already said you can't have office and Photoshop on Linux with a simple and convenient way, It will be a hack with troubles and hassles. GIMP is not equivalent to Photoshop by any stretch, and LibreOffice is not equivalent to MS Office not even in wild dreams. This is some of the compromises we all made when we turned to Linux... You will have to fight with these programs to do your job if possible

It is good that you don't play games anymore, you will not gonna miss them... I give you a high chance to become a long term Linux user. Good luck to your endeavor, it is worth it also for reasons you will discover in time

Should i choose fedora over debian?

imho, no. I do have a debian based unit (dns sink) and debian is very widely used, but it lags behind the times. fedora is typically more up to date, much as is arch. I'm running fedora 43 on one of my laptops (I keep a few to test various distros on physical hardware - running cachyos on another). honestly though, just about any distro is going to get you to the same place - away from winOS.

I've tried quite a few browsers but I never liked brave. I use firefox for this website and other linux stuff (research, finding info for questions here, etc) but my main browser is chrome. it works flawlessly, never had any issues.

A "repository" is storehouse of apps. It will be easily accessed via the distro you choose. It should be present in the menu or list of apps. In Linux Mint it is called 'Software Manager'....in Ubuntu I think it is called software centre....

It is a collection of apps which are safe ...... different to downloading apps direct from internet sites which can be unsafe.

G'day from DownUnder @Bogdan666 and welcome.

A point on nomenclature (wording) for you -

Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Fedora are distributions.

(KDE) Plasma is not, it is a DE (desktop environment).

For a non-exhaustive idea on DEs, you can read the following. It is old, and the memory figures need updating, but you can get an idea of what is available.

I've used for Fedora for longer periods of time, never had to disable selinux for anything or enable a selinux boolean to fix something.

Ok, so i have the first problem, my printer and scanner tab has disappeared for good...Scanner works with skanpage, but i can't print. I downloaded a driver for canon from their site, but how do i install it? also, that list with 10 things to do is great, but what does it mean? editing lines is not really for first time users, i have seen coding only when i program arduino, but this is like an alien language...I just want to install a printer THAT PREVIOUSLY WORKED and everything went south. Every tip that i see here is a line of coding, from where do you get that line? if you go to brave to install it they give you the code and it's easy. Why canon has decided to give me the files and not tell me how to install them?

Tell me the make (Canon) and model of your printer, please.

I am not sure it is shown anywhere in the past two pages

It's a canon ts3350, i started with a fresh install of fedora and now it's ok(reminds me of windows xp). I don't want any more lines of code unless something does not work.

I assume from your lack of a reply that you meant the fedora install is doing ok, but the printer is still in limbo....

and that you do not wish to use the terminal to install the printer with.

Both are ok, after i reinstalled fedora, the printer tab appeared in the system settings and i could install my printer. It's a mystery why the tab disappeared in the first place...for sure it was my fault somewhere.
