Hi Gang;
I know Linux is free, as in "free beer", and one way to make money is ads. I have found recently that some Linux sites are so clogged with ads / poor design that they are hard to use. The worst I have found is the download page of the distro I use (https://www.linuxliteos.com/download.php#current) (I use it because I run old hardware), It is so full of ads, circular links, etc. that it is beyond frustrating. There seems to be, for example, no obvious link where it says it is free to download, and all links that say "download" that I found link to ads. I was able to finally get it through an FTP Mirror. If any of the Linuxlite OS team is reading here: "I have used linuxlite for years, what are you doing, trying to commit web design suicide?? - Your web page is horrible and hard to use". Also Linuxlite team, thank you for a good lightweight distro from Debian / Ubuntu.

Well, you could possibly use uBlock Origin, or some other ad blocker - that might help narrow it down?

I don't think any of their devs visit us here. We're 'just' a Linux site and not actually affiliated with the Linux kernel. So, some distro authors visit but not all of them.

With Ublock Origin I see no ads on that site. Clicking $0 turns the buy to Download now button.
Actually a nice looking website with ads blocked.

I use ublock orign https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock , and I see no ads. Regarding the download link, where it reads Pay What You Can click on 0 and the Purchase Linux Lite button becomes Download Linux Lite.

Also, you can click where it reads HTTP MIRRORS: Click here which leads you here https://www.linuxliteos.com/mirrors.php and you can choose where to download Linux Lite from. Furthermore, if you make a donation, you'll be included in a non-ads list, though as far as I know it only works for the forum https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index.php All of this is well explained right here https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/...ux-lite-5-6-final-released/msg56583/#msg56583

+1 for uBlock Origins. Been using it for a very long time.

Unrelated but topical:

The author of uBlock also wrote uMatrix - which is basically an old-school firewall but exclusively for your browser. I don't think he works on it anymore, but it still works just fine. I have a browser configured with it and my most commonly accessed sites. If you're into browser security, it may be worth a peek.

There's a learning curve and it takes some time to make your rule sets for your favorite sites. The learning curve might be a little steep for some, which is possibly one of the reasons he stopped working on it - due to not having a huge fan base. I've made sure to clone the project in case it ever goes missing.
