Solved 22.3 final - no updated menu.

Solved issue
Do you have a specific name for it - there's a number of likewise named items in there.

Buggered if I know. I was merely speculating about a cause, with maybe someone else having the solution.

Right click on the menu button and poke about in the configuration settings. That's all I've got.

I realize this doesn't seem like much help, but identifying the cause can be one of the most important steps in resolving an issue.

Do you have a Timeshift snapshot, taken a stored in a safe spot?

if you do, then I will suggest this

Right click on menu and select remove menu

Right click on menu and select Edit menu....when that opens click on Restore System Configuration (bottom left hand corner)

Any joy with that ?

again...a Timeshift snapshot taken before doing this crucial

if that fails to achieve the desired outcome, right click on menu and remove menu ......then try again...open Update manager from the system tray (near clock) click on edit...then to Uograde...etc etc

I think i'll give up for the moment - there doesn't appear to be anything really in the new menu that I need and a lot of people don't like it anyway - it just seemed strange that it didn't update with going to 22.3.
Thanks everyone that responded.

This is a little bit of an old thread, but it may solve your problem by resetting the menu. Look at the last post in the thread.

There may be a good reason for that, I did offer for you, earlier, to check what was on the bottom right of the Welcome screen.

Can you please give us the output from the following?

Code:
echo $DESKTOP_SESSION

If it shows something other than something similar to this

cinnamon

then you are not on Cinnamon, you are using Xfce or MATE.

The new menu only applies to Cinnamon.

OK, lol, I am out of ideas then.

That being said, I will likely be installing Zena on the weekend, so I may be better placed to assist following that.

I am in Applethorpe, near Stanthorpe (curly bit of the Qld/NSW border)

Cheers

I don't know what happened to the cinnamon DE that I installed - but I just went back into Software manager again and deleted it and all seems back to normal with the old menu still running.
Perhaps let sleeping dogs lie.

Up to you mate, I'll be doing it anyway, I might spot something useful. If so, I'll report back here.

I run 88 distros on this rig, so another one won't break me. ;)

Point 5. in my signature explains, but yeah,...I'm mad about Linux.

To be honest - I downloaded & installed 22.3 onto a clean ssd & had a good look thru the new menu - there's nothing there that jumps out as a must have - so i'll stick with the amended old menu that I have for the present.

Hey, that's fine.

When you are sure this is solved, or finished for your purposes, you can mark it as such by going to your first post, and do as follows

Near bottom left of the post click Edit - (No Prefix) - Solved
