I don't think it's x32 anymore. Should I yolo it or do you have another version for it?If it says early 2006 it is x32.
any date after that it is X64
well good luck with that, the one I had [its gone now to the great computer dump in the sky, ] I had to download the correct windows boot installer, and . An old version of Balena to write it it [apparently the newer versions of USB writers are not recognised] the best OS was 32 bit legacy 4QS , but it kept failing because the HDD was on the way out, tried several ways to force it and failed.I guess we'll install x32 linux
Yolo then,Most X32 Linux distros are going the way of the dinosaur at this point. Some still support it, But I don't know for how long.
Debian x32 support expires this year, and mint went out a long time ago.
Only other one I know of is MX x32, but I have not used it, so I don't know.
Maybe some sort of Puppy has it. (Puppy Linux).
You can still use mint x64 on your air, though.
I also run a IMac core2duo (Black back, Aluminum front) from 2008 that is similar to your black macbook,Yep! Sounds good to me!
But try Belana on the Air, as it is a bootable USB maker. Better shot of it working (Tried it on 10.13 and it seemed alright.) make a Debian bootable (not net version, go with either XFCE or LXQT for the black Mac) and cannonball it! But make sure to have a backup, and I would dual-boot it just in case if it does not work out (So you still have OSX to fall back on.) for the air, you should be fine as it is more modern hardware. Should run Mint well!
I wouldn’t run X32 mint ( I used the last version on an old Dell with 1 gb ram.) as Support might have dropped already.
Debian is probably your best bet for the black Mac.
As for Bazzite, it might run smoother but I do know plasma ( the desktop ) can eat up some ram. (I run Debian ARM 64 on a VM with it).
Mint still is the best bet for the Air.
But your experience may vary- Cannonball it!
See what works best for you.
There are plenty of distros, see what works best for you!
Thx, here goes!image is the image of the distribution or boot app you have downloaded, click on select search find and open that app
middle box is the target drive you want to write to [usualy USB drive]
when ready click flash and it will start
how do I know that my Etcher is working?
you will get a new screen with a progress bar
encouraging news! bc I definitely downloaded the 32 bit linux instead of 64 bit for my black macIt turns out you might be able to use x64. Here are the specs of your book. 64 bit EFI on the spec sheet. Based off your Proccessor clock speed, it is a late 2007 with 64 bit EFI. Just 32x Mac OS. (They did this as well, initial they made I think 10.8.)
I don't wish to be confusing, but you might be able to use x64 mint on there. This site documents all the MBs and pretty much every Mac variant known in existence from this time period.
My stick doesn't have lights. On your Flash disk, Do you see any flashing lights?
If you do, it should take a little longer.
If you don't, try on your Air and see if it does the same.
