Hello linux org forum users and visitors. Today, I want to share my experience with windows and how I found peace at linux.
Issue 1: Black screen on login
I am greeted by only a black screen and cursor with the laptop starting to overheat. Funny thing is automatic apps still start normally and I can open task manager with shortcut. I open task manager then manually start explorer exe.
The issue randomly stopped happening.
Issue 2: Blue screen almost every start
When I start laptop, it shows blue screen of death then reboots itself which then runs like nothing happened.
I looked many threads which many people doesn't contribute anything more helpful than just typical m$ copy pasta troubleshoot steps.
In which floor of the hell, I found this may be related to fast boot. Disabling fast boot solved the issue.
Issue 3: Overheating
Laptop randomly starts overheating, it's hot... like really hot. The issue happens randomly and usually solves when restarted.
Issue 4: No m$ store pre-installed
I don't really like it but I needed it to install clevo control center (good job from clevo to make their control center locked behind m$ store)
Issue 5: Windoze 11
Slowness, AI everywhere, overheating, onedrive, ads... I finally decided to stop torturing myself with m$ and give linux a try.
Solution: Finally using linux
I've searched from forum to forum, post to post to see which linux distros are beginner-friendly. Also which one would support a clevo computer (from some forums, I found tuxedo control center). I found many people recommending mint, so I gave it a try.
Downloaded ISO from mirrors close to me, verified checksum (yes, I actually did), burned it with rufus.
I originally attempted to use LMDE but learned it the hard way it doesn't come with driver installer unlike non-debian version.
So... again... downloaded ISO from mirrors close to me, verified checksum, burned it with mint iso burner.
Setup was fairly easy, it just asked me relevant stuff like keyboard, language, username, password, etc.
Then update it on first run, reboot, install drivers with driver installer, reboot, install tuxedo control center, reboot... and finally a happy laptop.
Unlike windoze, it also no longer overheats lol.
I just realized how much pain I went through 'cause of m$.
