No ethernet on LMDE 6 dual-booted with Windows 10 which works

I've just installed LMDE 6 dual-booted with Windows 10. Windows sees the ethernet adapter and connects to the web; LMDE doesn't and won't. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi might be out too; but I don't use those. The Install/Live media connects also. I'm clueless: I've not come across, or had to deal with, this before now. Any help would be appreciated. This is a desktop PC built around an MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk Wi-Fi motherboard with a Realtek® 8126 5G LAN. Thanks in advance.

Check to see if there is a file called 10-globally-managed-devices.conf it is usually located in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d - if not
Now create a new empty file in text editor and save the file as 10-globally-managed-devices.conf and place it in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/ - NOTE you will need to be root to make this

now run

sudo touch /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf

now run

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

does it work?

ok so you have installed Mint LMDE, it has INXI,, so in Linux open a terminal and run inxi -Nn copy and paste back [or take a clear pict on your phone and post back, I think it may be an RTL driver problem

I got a disconnected notification. I now have a slow flashing yellow led above the Ethernet port that wasn't on before. In Windows I have a solid green led below and a rapid flashing yellow above, which is more than I had 15 minutes ago. Tah for that! I'll boot back into LMDE and collect the info Brick Brian just asked for and get back to you all.

I followed the README; ./autorun.sh returned "command not found". Is this something to do with "Compiler/binutils for kernel compilation"? This is an interesting learning experience! Cheers.

open your Synaptic Package Manager and type in the search block firmware-atheros and install that also do the same with firmware-realtek and while your at it also check firmware-linux, firmware-linux-free and finally firmware-linux-non-free

I've got as far as retrieving r8126-10.016.00.tar.bz2; what i'm supposed to do with it I don't know. "Command not found", see?

right click on file, select open, ..new window, click on unzip [new folder made find , right click open with debian installer

the Synaptic Package Manager should look like this - whatever you have downloaded (r8126-10) disregard for right now leave it alone for now you may not need it - right click on firmware-atheros and select mark for installation and click the apply button this will install it then do the same for firmware-realtek and listed in my post #9

Synaptic requires a network connection. I haven't got one; not on LMDE. If I had internet, wired or wireless, I'd hardly be troubleshooting a "No Internet" problem. Synaptic does indicate all the drivers Realtek/Qualcomm/Atheros are present and installed.

without an Internet connection the output from the Synaptic Package Manager is inaccurate and not trustworthy

I wondering if Windows is disabling the Ethernet/WiFi adapters on shut down?
