What's some cool software others (may) not know?

Flameshot is awesome. I used it to train someone remotely at work. Didn't have to spend a long time on the phone and no follow up questions asked. Great to show things to people who are not that great on computers.

I used to use Shutter quite a bit, but Flameshot has been my go-to for a while.

As an aside, I let someone use my computer the other night, and they managed to feed it a good amount of beer. I had a nice-looking no-brand mechanical keyboard from NewEgg. It confused the heck out of me, as it was supposed to be wired. Well, it is wired. It has to be plugged into a USB cable and it's wireless. Yeah... On top of that, the keys themselves are round. I'll adjust to that fairly quickly, but it takes up two USB slots. One is the power, and the other is the wireless dongle. It also says that it's waterproof. We'll see about that! Still, I can't think of a good reason for it to require both. There's no battery in it. When I unplug that cable, it shuts off. I was confused for a good two or three minutes before I figured all this out. It's otherwise a pretty solid keyboard that was maybe $30.

You should make a new thread and do a review on it. Aside from this forum I post sparingly and its mainly on product feedback/reviews/troubleshooting. I created a troubleshooting thread for a keyboard on the Debian forum and came back a year or two later and it had like 20,000+ views. Mainly all from internet searches I believe.

Just an on the spot thought.....Reviews......a review of AI Detector Tools, would be interesting,

There are instances of them being used on peoples posts here on Linux.org

Oh, it's not that important. I was just shouting into the wind.

I might post something to my profile.

I don't know what "flameshot" is but, just from the sound of this sentence, I want it. :D

Its a screenshot program that allows you to take a screen shot and mark it up. I've only used the arrow feature.

I figured from the thread that it must be something like that, but I was fantasizing about it being something more like a remote control stun gun but with fire instead of electricity. I'd use -that- to train someone remotely at work and I'll bet I could find other applications, too.

Having said that, the more mundane reality, as you demonstrated looks pretty darned useful, too, if not nearly as much fun.

I hope it's OK to suggest my own app here. It was released to public a just a couple of weeks ago, so it's pretty much guaranteed you haven't heard of it.

It's a yet another Wine prefix manager, called Wine Bar. Think a more modern alternative to Bottles / PlayOnLinux. It's unique feature is support for Linux on Apple Silicon (think Asahi Linux), though it works on regular x86_64 distros as well. The link above has a short demo video.

@Tulon as a new member self-promotion is frowned on, but as your post is in keeping with the thread, I will give you this one [but no more]

How does it differ from Heroic or Faugus, any features it has that those don't?

Faugus I haven't tried and Heroic I've tried some time ago, maybe things have changed since then.

My problem with Heroic, Lutris and most other launchers is that they either work out of the box or not at all, and there isn't anything you can do about it. For example, an installer may fail to run until you install some package with Winetricks. Wine Bar let's you handle such a situation. You look at the logs from running the installer. Then you google the error message. Then you run the Winetricks GUI (from within Wine Bar) to install the missing package. Then you run your installer again and hopefully this time it works.

Another thing I am quite proud of is the way installations are handled. You just select the installer file to run, click through the wizard as usual and then any shortcuts the installer has put on the desktop automatically appear inside Wine Bar. Just watch the demo video!

Lutris seems like it's going to die sooner or later. I know that Heroic has a debug log option now and if I remember correctly a winetricks settings too. Can't remember exactly since I've only had the need for doing like that something once. All the pre installed games I have been able to just run also. Thanks for sharing!
