Virtual Machine advice query

Hello all,

I am in completely unfamiliar territory and seeking advice

I have questions regarding Virtual machines as I am a complete beginner to Linux and not quite comfortably prepared to leave the old ecosystem

I am currently also learning to code I am also not a proficient coder at this point but it is something I am working towards. I am currently learning full-stack development and python as a beginner, my personal goal is to simply build my own apps for data privacy reason due to being hacked and targeted by adversarial marketing after debunking a Hollywood PR campaign and becoming a problem (rather proudly tbh)

With that in mind I have seen and read that running a Virtual machine may be a temporary solution to explore a new option before committing fully and I am seeking advice from others based on their experiences
It is my intention to switch over fully in the future and will likely choose based on how my coding education proceeds and what I become interested in after gaining a little more knowledge

I am somewhat hesitant of the Oracle option for shall we call it "corporation reasons" but do not have the understanding of the significant differences between the other options for the user, and also the level of difficulty for someone new to use. I don't even have a decent enough understanding to peruse the other questions on the board being asked to see if it answers my question, I'm not kidding about the brand new part

I have not made up my mind about which distribution to choose as I do not currently have a specified direction in mind so i am open to suggestions on that point

If you do try to answer my question, pretend your explaining it to your boomer mum as many of the terms are also brand new to me

Not so, many people run one main OS and may run many others in VM/VB for years,
Now I will assume you currently use Windows 10 or 11 these both will run WSL [Windows subsystem for Linux] although there is a limited number of approved Linux distributions to use, there is still a reasonable selection , tthe link below will give you a basic idea.

Secondary question:

Now that I've effectively suffered Zoochosis trying to find a way to actually accomplish learning to code and basically hit every wall in existence due to paywalls, ineffective lessons etc

How do I uninstall it to save storage space on my computer?

Uninstall what? your first post does not indicate what you have installed to your computer.

Honestly its intensely stressful and confusing for a first timer, thank you for the recommendation I will look through it

Its bizarre because I know what the thing is and what it does, but often not what it was called so every new term feels like an overload and ends up a little scary because Im worried its not right or I've done the wrong thing

Also I'm a women so its twenty times worse worrying about how males might react to me being anywhere near this subject

Setting up is very confusing because I'm not entirely sure what it is I do and don't need, and what if I spend time on doing one thing and its not the thing I needed for what I want to do

If I actually succeed at this I might end up re-writing this all in a much easier way to understand, I have some rather serious thoughts about the order of learning things and those paywalls, especially being a kinetic learner

Nobody knows anyone's gender anywhere online unless their username or avatar hints about it or if somebody tells their gender.
