Solved Transferring pictures and docs to new linux from windows

Hi there. New Mint22.2 Installation and I will need to get all of my stuff from Win-10 to the proper locations in Mint. What I did was copy pictures to a usb stick and got them to "Places/Pictures". However they just appear as a folder that needs to be opened. How do I get them just listed individually like the other pictures in there.Thanks! -BA

open files, then open pictures, insert usb and open a new files window, find and open the folder with your pictures, highlight from the usb and drag to Linux picture file [if there are a lot of pictures it may be a bit slow as they will be moved one by one this is how i did mine last week.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm on Windows now but will give it a try next time. On Mint, "Pictures" is accessed from "Places". I have other issues which I will start separate threads for if i don't see existing threads. Thanks. -BA

If you are duel booting windows and Linux on the same machine, you can boot and use Linux to open your windows home folder and copy direct to your Linux home folder in the same way [also works for music, film,and docs, docs will maintain the ,doc ,docx or whatever formate they are stored in, LibreOffice will be able to open them in linux

Insert usb stick. Open it. Select/highlight what you wish to transfer to pictures, right click and select copy

Open Pictures, right click and select paste.

I have a windoze 7 Virtual Machine with a shared folder and I can transfer anything between them and the same goes for a Flash Drive.

Not dual-booting with Windows ( I actually have Mint and Ubuntu). Windows is a separate SSD that I have to switch in physically.
