They are, but hold the same quantity 375 ml, 13 oz. I prefer the taste out of glass.

We don't get many beers in 'stubby' form. There's Red Stripe (a Jamaican beer), but it's not to my taste. It does come in a 'stubby' bottle.

We also have 'pony' bottles (in one case). They're not really 'stubbies', I don't think. They might be? I'm not sure about the qualifications. I'll let you decide if they're 'stubbies'.

I feel like one could cut that can open (after it's empty), flatten it out and make something decorative out of it.

my father worked for the Forest Service and one of his responsibilities was managing campground hosts at the local campgrounds. One of the hosts (it was always the same people every year) had a hobby of turning beer cans (Pabst mostly) into pinwheels that you could hang from your RV and would sell them to folks in the campground for beer money. from what I recall he was basically breaking even on them & drinking for free.
