Scares me that so many choices come up and I don't know the meaning of terms.

Download Etcher lists 6 choices.

Which do I want for making a bootable USB stick?
Installer? Portable?

Seems downloaded in Windows, where is it?
Flash from file?

Wish I could screenshot.

I did not specify. Seems it landed in Home. But again it seems to install then brings up flash from file, but no way to find file. I'm looking at balenaetcher setup application.

The installer version is what I'd use.

Where did you download the iso to.
Usually you will find it in downloads folder.

Maybe one of these will help.

Okay, now linuxmint-21.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso is downloading from LayerOnline. I hadn't downloaded it apparently.

2.9 GB will take a long while!

I should test the authenticity of the iso file after it's downloaded?

As a general rule, yes. It can save you some time and headache to verify the integrity of the downloaded .iso file.

Etcher is easy to use and you don't need to install it. In Mint Cinnamon your download will be in the Home Folder in Downloads...from there you can put it anywhere.

Download this one...

Right click...choose Properties...Permissions and put a tick in Execute...now you can use it.

If you're already using Mint Cinnamon you can use the USB Image Writer.

Right click the Mint ISO and With your Flash Drive plugged in choose...Make Bootable USB stick.

Then click Write, but before you do...click Verify...nothing to be scared of. Hope this helps.

With your Flash Drive plugged in...reboot the computer tapping the key that brings up the boot menu.

Not every computer is the same...could be F12...F11...F2 or even the Delete key. Select the correct one and hit Enter...see this...

It does help, thank you.

I found this with a Google search:

Enter BIOS during Power On (before Windows loads)

Repeatedly tap the F1 key when the Lenovo, ThinkPad, ThinkStation, or ThinkCentre logo appears, The computer may beep once to indicate that it will boot to BIOS.
https://support.lenovo.com › solutions

However, so far BIOS doesn't appear.

The BIOS has nothing to do with it...did you read the Mint installation guide ?

As I said you want the Boot Menu...select your Flash Drive and hit Enter.
